I think the biggest issue is consistency. Many guys are willing to train hard when on gear, but drop the ball when they come off. Maintaining a consistent regimen of good nutrition year round combined with consistent training, regardless of "using" or not is the answer. Lots of guys use a pile of gear when they are on, and there is no way to maintain naturally what you have gained while using a ton of gear. Lower dose, longer cycles will not result in as big of gains, but will be much easier to keep a higher percentage of what you have built.

Maybe someone can explain the importance of proper diet while ON and OFF?

Lol you need proper diet all year round no matter what. And you are right Lower does and longer cycles is definetly the way to go!
If you keep the same consistency you will keep your gains, after
cycle is more important in that in cycle in keeping the gains then anything.

Anytime I run a big cycle like off season deca/test/adrol I always follow it with a long anavar or mast cycle. Of course lifts drop off but you won't see the plunge. If you are talking like 10 weeks on and 10 off pct is important, I would taper down before coming off. Diet? Year round brother! Also supplements likecreatine and no2 seem to keep the water rretention and energy boost to some degree. Just don't be the guy who quits going and makes friends with ben and jerry. Also know yourself, if you are prone to depression make sure you have your meds
