I'll bite. I am 45 years old, on the verge of 46. I have been clean and sober for almost 9 years now. I spent my late teens, all of my 20's and half of my 30's in an alcohol and cocaine blur. Prior to being overcome with addiction and alcoholism, I was athletic. I played football, lifted weights, and stayed in shape. Hell, even through my drinking and partying years I still exercised and made an attempt at maintaining a decent physique. I was a fat kid up until I was 14 and decided I had enough of the teasing and picking on. Back then, it was the "T-factor" diet. Low fat, as much carbs as you wanted. I went from 230 lbs (I was 5'8"), down to 165 lbs. I jogged, lifted, and watched what I ate. Then, from 18 to 36 years old, my diet consisted of Budweiser, coke, and peanuts.

In 2010 I was beat down. I had hit my bottom and decided to do something different. I moved into a sober living house, got involved in AA, and I have been sober ever since. I met MrsBot, we dated for 5 years, and we have now been married almost 4. She is my best friend, workout partner, and all around favorite person. Getting sober, quitting smoking, and getting married = GETTING FAT. My worst nightmare came true, I was back to fatboy status at 44 years old. 230 big sloppy fat pounds.

September of 2017 I began the KETO diet. The next month, we joined the gym. We stuck to cardio and circuit training only. By January I was down to 176lbs. February of 2018, I had my Test checked. It was 290 ng/dl. I started TRT at 200mg / week. That, of course led me to forums. 200mg / week was great, as a recovering alcoholic, I still have the "more is better" mindset. SO, late April, did my first blast - 500mg Test C / 500mg Deca per week. The rest is history.

Today I am sitting at 205 lbs. I still don't have abs, but I am in the best shape of my life - AT FORTY-FIVE! I absolutely LOVE the lifestyle, so does my wife. That makes it even better. I am not planning on competing, I just want to be the old dude that people look at and say "DAMN", that fucker is jacked at middle age! I don't wanna be the fat kid ever again. Also, the AAS sure as hell makes this 45 year old a 25 year old in the bedroom! Since MrsBot is 6 years younger than me and hot as hell, that is also a driving factor.

Being 40 and having been on and off for 10 years, I felt lazy and sluggish when not on.
It has become a way of life. I'm not always juicing but always running trt.
The juice makes me feel young and gives me energy

I couldn't imagine going back to being natural. Not even for aesthetic reasons, but just overall well-being. I feel 100x better when my hormones are optimized/elevated. It's hard to even remember being the way I used to be. Scrawny, self conscious, angry 24/7, anxious, etc. I was a 250lb tough guy trapped in the body of a 150lb pussy. My mentality just did not match up with my appearance.

Nowadays I AM almost a 250lb guy (still not that tough). But I don't have that aggression or that desire to kick someone's ass because I no longer have anything to prove. I know now that I am at least big and strong enough that I won't get tossed around like a rag doll and will stand a chance in most altercations. Most people won't bother to mess with me because of my size (they don't need to know I'm still a pussy
      ).

The chip on my shoulder is gone, I literally even walk differently than I used to, my entire demeanor has changed to the point where I literally stand up straighter and hold my head up higher when I walk. Oh yea and most importantly.....It helped me do a lot more sex to a lot more attractive women.

I don’t have a cool story, I’ve been a big guy my whole life. I just don’t want to be old lol. I started trt when I was about 38 and was amazed at how much better I felt. I’ve always been intrigued by steroids and researched them for years but never really thought I’d do it. Once I went on trt it just seemed like a good idea. I didn’t have access to good sources and I attempted my first cycle last year. The gear was bunk and actually fucked me up pretty bad. Now I have access and I’m about 6 or so weeks in to a test cycle. I love it, I feel great all the time. I’ll be 42 this year and I think I’ll be blasting and cruising for the next several years.

Not a big story here, but I'll toss mine in. I'm 47 now, but when I was in high school, I was bullied, but only by a certain kid. I was 5 7, 120 pounds, and shy. I finally got the nerve one day to beat this kids ass in my junior year, and you know what? I wish I would have done it 2 years prior. I went through a party phase in the 90s (rave scenes) , stopped around 26 and wanted to get back to a clean life. When I was younger, I always loved being out doors, loved messing around on my bmx (freestylin' in the mid 80s). So when I started working out again at 27, I just loved it. I was still skinny and honestly, I wasn't making gains past a certain point and no one would give me advice except eat more and lots of creatine. Well, I figured out that they were on gear but had no idea where to buy it. So I started doing prohormones pre 2000. I didn't gain a lot, but I definitely noticed the few pounds and strength. Then I met this crazy little dude that was 5'6 and ripped like hell from Brazil. He turned me onto EQ - two bottles for the glorious price of 270$. yeah, I know. So I came home that night with eq and pins and went for it. What a rush. The next 10 weeks were absolutely insane. I went from 140lbs and 6.8% bf, to 165 - 8% bf (benching 315). I never wanted to be big - it was never an insecurity issue, not a can't find a girl problem (never had problems in that area), I just loved feeling stronger - loved the cardio benefits - overall sense of being. I found another popular board and a guy reached out to me in pm after hearing about how much I spent on 2 bottles and well, I got my game on with sponsors. I did that until I was 33 and hit a roadblock called tren gyno. I couldn't reverse it - had surgery. Fast forward into my 40s, started dabbling again because my test started getting lower and had issues with ED, got serious about it last year because I got tired of paying "gym" prices from a buddy because I was too lazy to look for it on my own again. One of the bottles he sold me was from Massbuilder and well, did some googling, found BOP, never looked back. I feel great everyday now, and I may or may not continue cycling in the future, but right now, I'm fully loaded and love it. I still don't want to go for the freakish size, I just like to be lean and strong.

Question is if someone that used and then stopped could stay off and still train without them

My reason isn't hidden but I like to workout and juice because it attracts women, I think we all are like this.

I have always had re-occuring dreams of things happening and not having the strength to take care of myself and/or family. Even in dreams that I have a gun or weapon it takes all of my strength to pull the trigger resulting in a low rate or non-existent rate of fire.

I also cant stand that society sees the average person as being high in bodyfat or a DAD-BOD look down at individuals that actually take care of themselves. I feel unless you really abuse what is offered in the lifestyle you are much healthier than alot of the population.

Everyone has the right to live the way they want and I do not judge others on the way they look as long as they are happy.

      Why we juice....the hidden reasons

Had a bad heroin addiction. Joined the Navy. Had two kids. Saw someone pin and got a hard on for needles again (weird huh). Loved the feeling of the needles and couldn’t complain about the benefits of the juice as well. Then I got cancer awhile back. Got real small. Now has nothing to do with loving needles but wanting to get back to where I was plus 20lbs.

Bro I'm so with you on this point. I get so angry when I go out to buy shirts for myself because I'm 6 foot, 230lbs with a size 34 waist. My shirt size is XXL. Do you think they make XXL shirts for people in shape??? Fuck no. They assume if you're a XXL that you also have a beach ball sized beer gut and a squash shaped torso. An XXL shirt fits my arms, shoulders, and torso length perfectly...but not so much the mid section. Half the time the mid section of the shirt is wider than the shoulders. Then when you think you can just give it a wash or 2 and the middle will shrink to better fit you.....NOPE! It just shrinks upwards. Now you are wearing a goddamn belly shirt.

Well shit bro congrats on being a goddamn boss and powering through all the shit thrown at you. Congratulations on getting sober and beating cancer! (hopefully assuming).

I have seen/heard a lot of AAS users mention past drug use. Honestly I can see why ex-users would turn to AAS. One reason I can think of is that AAS can be somewhat stabilizing. Obviously they have to be used correctly and there are certain compounds that do not fit this description. BUT I think a nice, healthy dose of test can really bring you out of a funk and help you feel more stable. It gives you that consistent feeling of well being that might just be what someone needs to kick a bad habit. When you're waking up every day feeling good and confident...it can help get rid of those shitty feeling that make you want to use in the first place. I have a few friends/acquaintances who are AAS users and past drug users. That's what they have told me anyway. Unfortunately...not all of them won that fight
