Question Why we juice....the hidden reasons

Kind of a strange topic, but I tend to believe that a lot of people that cycle do it for other reasons than "they just wanna be big". When I was in college I did a sociology report where I conducted anonymous interviews with steroid users, and read into the history of some famous known steroid users. I noticed that most of them had some kind of back story that seemed to link to the reasoning for them using steroids. Whether it be bullying, abuse, sexual abuse, insecurity, drug abuse, etc.

This led me to look into my own reasoning...

While it may not be as extreme as some cases...I discovered the reasons deep in my subconscious for my steroid use, that I didn't even know were the reasons behind it.

I was always a small, skinny, goofy kid. Always had aggression. I had to overcompensate with aggression for my lack of size and strength. I watched my mother (divorced) date a few guys...some who were real assholes to her in front of me and even pushed her around a bit. I had a sister 2 years younger who would bring home scumbag after scumbag. She'd come home with bruises, she got into drugs, etc etc. Having a single mom and a younger sister...I'm supposed to be the protector. Everytime i'd confront one of my sisters boyfriends I'd get my ass handed to me...and they were 2 years younger. It got to me that I was 130lb wimp who couldn't even protect my family. I started lifting at 19....packed on a good 40lbs...and plateaued. Still wasn't big enough to scare people (which is what I wanted to do)...and gains were slowing wayy down. So at 23 I ran my first cycle...and life has improved tenfold ever since.

If anyone would like to share their hidden reasons for cycling...I'd love to hear it. This thread my be a flop....but I found it interesting that sometimes you don't even realize the real reason motivating your life decisions.

Interesting topic. i commend you putting yourself out there like that with your past. good for you bro. my reason is not even close to this. i became interested in PEDs in 87, 88. i remember watching ben johnson in rome run 9.83 which was the world record then and i thought to myself that dude doesn't look like a sprinter. he was stacked. then you had the seoul olympic finals which some call the greatest race ever where he ran 9.79. then he got busted and they said he was using winny. so i looked into it and what it could do and what else was out there. i read everything i could get my hands on. bill phillips books, dan duchaine, ect ect. was a lot harder back then to get info but i love the science of it and what can be done to the body and how it reacted. that was my reason to get into it. i also read and read for years before i did anything as well.

Thank you. I can happily say those are no longer the reasons for my use. That's how it started but now I want to compete and I enjoy seeing how far I can push my body.

I also have a terrible fear of being average....

There is nothing wrong with striving for the best you can be. let's be honest in the US that's what you're brought up to believe in. i have no issues with that. that said there is a fine line of striving and being driven and being obsessive and having a unhealthy mindset. straddle the line and you good to go. don't be afraid to fail or of disappointment bc there will be some along the way. its how you deal with it that is important. no one and i mean no one bats a 1000. keep up the good work bro.

The reason I use AAS now is to surpass the biggest I was before back surgery. I used to be more athletic, focusing on plyometrics, sprinting, and weight training. I used AAS back then, but now I do it because I want to be the biggest I can be with relatively low bodyfat. After all my muscles atrophied to a point of weighing as little as 165 at 6 feet tall, and not even being able to bench 100lbs. I never want to be that way again.

Any and everything that I've ever gotten involved with in my life, good or bad,I've never gone half ass. I've always credited that to an addictive personality which for years almost destroyed me in past lifestyle..Once I finally turned from that life and began bettering myself in every area of life, including physically I quickly realized theres no way at my age (44) to reach the goals that I have in the gym..Its been a few years now into this but I quickly realized this is more than just a hobby,It's absolutely a lifestyle now and has been,a lifestyle that I can't imagine changing or doing without..They say once an addict always an addict, guess they're right cuz I'm still an addict,an AAS addict and I love my addiction!!
