Telling your doctor you are on gear

Other day a buddy of mine told me his doctor knows he runs cycle and takes all kinds of roids and she is totally cool with that. Until now, I was under the impression there is no way you can share it especially with your doc and insurance unless legally prescribed TRT. I'd love to know whats your experience on this and if you told your doc, what was his/her initial reaction and how to approach the situation so the doc dont freak out and report to insurance or anything. Knowing what I know now, actually it would be nice to have the docs support to get the lab and other test done whenever you want when you are the one who is in control of what you take and what amount you take.

I really wish I could tell my doc, but there is so much misinformation and negativity surrounding gear that I don't believe I'd get any real help from them. I mean, when my test levels came back at 227 he didn't even want to put me on TRT and gave me Cialis instead.

I would love to find a doc I could be honest with and I'd love to hear other brothers responses if they've found one.

My old family doc wouldn't even consider running a full panel of tests. She fixed my vitamin d and sent me on my way. After doing my own research on Low T I paid for my own labs through private md labs and saw that I was in the bottom of the test range. I did a search for hormone replacement therapy doctors, set up an appointment, and emailed him my labs. Since I was low anyway and had to wait a couple weeks for the appointment, I decided to start my first cycle at 500mg test e/week. At the doctors office he agreed that I should be on TRT, and he was getting the vial out to give me my first shot when I told him that I had decided to play a little "catch up" and that I was running a cycle. The 500 number blew him away (I can only imagine his reaction to some of the numbers I see on here, haha!) but we discussed what my plans were and how to best go about it. He still gave me a script for the test (which I have been filling every time at the cost of my insurance. I have a nice stockpile of the stuff now) and has been very helpful with any questions I have had. It has been nice having insurance pay for all my labs and prescriptions, though even with them paying for the adex the copay is $10 and I can only get two pills (a month supply at TRT levels) at a time. UGL might be better for ancillaries.

      Good luck in your search.

That's a great story, Somethingclever. Has the doctor ever run any other labs when you've been on cycle and talked with you about the heightened levels?

Yep! We ran my mid-cycle hormone labs through him and then another lipid panel at the end. It was supposed to be a hormone and lipid panel so we could see how the letro dose was working, but he forgot to check the box for hormones or something. But! We were able to determine that LipidStabil is effective. He was very surprised to see how "decent" my lipids were given the amount of gear I was on and with using letro.

We then had another hormone panel drawn to see how the TRT dose of 200mg/week was working out. He wasn't going to do lipids on that one because he didn't think enough time had passed to make a difference, but I insisted since my insurance was paying for it anyway. Lo and behold, using LipidStabil they were almost back to my pre-cycle numbers.

I'm going to just pay for my own female hormone panel on the cycle I'm currently running though. It's only $60. I don't want insurance wondering why I've had labs drawn so many times in one year.

Oh, and of course he reviewed all the other aspects of the labs with me, especially liver function with the var (and liverstabil) and my hematology levels, etcetera. He thought I would need to donate blood at 500, but the test came back nicely and we agreed 4grams of fish oil per day probably had something to do with that.

Somethingclever which TRT clinic you went to? My friend he isnt a TRT patient and runs crazy amount of juice. I guess it probably has a lot to do the relationship between you and your doc and whats the level of trust, but still many docs won't like what you do. The thing that surprises me , his doc is a regular female doc and she is cool with that lol..probably she doesn't care. I rather shop for male doc when I try to find a doc assuming he'd understand my physic and concerns better and would probably be pro T person as a male, but man tons of beta male pussies out there. Actually I might give a female doc a try next time, I also read here on couple different threads that their female doc is OK with what they do and maintaining t level 900-1000 always.
