How much does donating double reds effect hematocrit?

My TRT doctor ordered blood work today. In the past, when donating blood, my hematocrit has always run pretty high at 17.5-18.5. I really don't want to jeopardize my rX. I plan to give double reds a few days before having blood work drawn. My question is, how much will donating double reds drop my hematocrit?

How much? Well the only way to know for sure would be to do bloods before AND after you donate.

However, I can tell you that donating blood is the way to go when attempting to reduce your hematocrit levels. Unfortunately, I do not know if there is any significant difference in effect to hematocrit levels between full blood donations vs double reds.

Double red does help more then a single.

Good luck finding a place that will accept double red if you have a common blood type though. Most places only want certain donations based on your blood type and won't take a double red unless it's on their system as a priority.

I prefer to donate double reds, but montego is right it can be difficult if your a common blood type. As for why i prefer double reds to whole blood? Double reds gets rid of what were are rtying to get rid of red blood cells and they return you gear back to you in the plasma. That way i get to keep all m y goodies.

Fortunately my levels were close to normal levels (15.9). My TRT doc did a blood draw a week later so I'll see the net effect. I'll post once I have those results.
