      Vial fell in water

so I was fixing some crashed gear, I put a pin hole in the top to vent and placed in boiling water for 10 minutes and while moving the pan both vial tipped over in the water for a few seconds till I could grab a spoon and upright them...my thought the that the pressure in the vial was probably greater than that outside the vial so there was very little chance of water seeping into my vial to cause an issue...any thoughts on the matter

i would think any significant amount of water will be visible once it settled?

You will be fine. Even on the off chance some trace amount did get in the BA has you covered. Let it cool and you should be able to see anything beyond a trace amount of water in it as oil and water do not mix.

All musings are for entertainment purposes only. This character makes Sybil look relatively sane.

The odds of any gear being 100% sterile before Benzyl alcohol is added are slim to none. The BA is the only thing between us and infection. A person would be suprised at the amount of bacteria that can be killed by the BA content in a sterile vial. I have talked to guys that threw a vial away because the top came off in the process of removing the color cap. They thought exposed air was enough to make it no longer sterile.

Clean and sterile are two different things. A piece of foreign matter such as dirt can be made sterile but an abcess could form if it was injected.

The body deals with micro particles of foreign matter very effectively as long as they are sterile. There is enough BA in your gear to kill (sterilize) millions of CFU of bacteria.

I am not recommending it but you could probably drop a micro booger in your gear and not get any infection or abcess as long as it has had a chance for the BA to saturate. Boiling water is hardly a booger. I would rest easy.

I would trash it. Water you can see bacteria, chlorine, impurities etc not so much. Not worth it imo.
