Hard to say..
we need more info..
what site?
what ester?
how long ago was the shot and what needle size?
Injection site irritation can be induced by a series of events, local nerve, surrounding tissue and even connective tissue, carrier oil and solvent ratios and so on.. Do NOT message the mass, a cold compress can assist with localized swelling.. Keep and eye on, if the area turns red and spreads along with heat, go to your physician at your next earliest convenience/ or ER..
Take some Benadryl and see how you feel, this may assist with the activation of site enzymes and histamines by reducing them..

All of VIsions questions are spot-on. As is the Benedryl recommendation. I assume you've taken care of this by now. But, really, to answer the question: No, that is not normal. Yes, sometimes you'll have small localized swelling, and even a small abcess. But 3 x 3 is not normal, and if it is still that size and painful after 24 -48 hours, you need to see a doc. Just go - they will help you. This happened to me a few times over the years. Believe me - ER docs have seen much worse than a swole dude having a pinning reaction. To them, you're a relief. Also, more questions: Did you pin deep enough? New area? New compound or new supplier? I'd like to get to the bottom of the reason.

Could very well be infection. My brother had a spot that big on his leg, turned out to he infected. Do wipe the tops of the viles with alcohol, and the injection site?

I got an infection in my glute one time. I believe it was from going in a hot tub after Injection. It got hot and you could actually see the infection spreading, it was discolored and kept spreading down my leg. I went to the doc told them exactly what I did. They told me it happens all the time. They gave me some antibiotics told me to be careful and that was that.

Microbiologist, here.
The mot coming infections from pools are usually bacterial, so that’s good, since antibiotics should be available.
No fever = not Leptospirosis
No rash = not Pseudomonas aeruginosa
If it’s chronic, it could be Mycobacterium marinum, but you literally just got it.
Get checked out. I can’t do too much without actual biopsy.
