Steroids ARE legal.
Not illegal as is so often spoken/written. You CAN buy them legally with a prescription so they therefore are LEGAL but CONTROLLED.
Maybe it seems like semantics to some but the distinction will go a long way to clarify the illinformed.
Just like when questioned if I have ever used steroids. I always say “Sure. I had some cortisone injected into my shoulder, back and hips to reduce inflammation once.”
“My wife is using steroids as well. HRT prescribed by a doctor.”
They sometimes come back with “No, we mean anabolic steroids.” To which I reply “No.” since testosterone is an androgenic steroid.
Answer the question that is asked.
Anything to get the people to understand our POV.
But of course, The Masses are Asses.

I think you're splitting hairs on the anabolic/androgenic debate. I get why most commoners don't understand "steroids" loosely and referencing cortisone is a good example to show how broad steroid as a term is but testosterone is an anabolic steroid, no doubt about it. They are AAS for a reason acting on the androgen receptor but the effect is anabolic to the body.

Common people don’t understand the difference between anabolic androgenic steroids and cortico steroids. Or any other hormone for that matter. Technically any hormone qualifies as a steroid.

And to add further confusion, most steroids are not scheduled/controlled substances because most steroids are not anabolic/androgenic steroids. Rather, they are corticosteriods which are designed to reduce inflammation...not grow muscles. The vast majority of drugs are simply prescription medications just like birth control pills, antibiotics, and a million other drugs that are dispensed each day.

Anabolic- to grow tissue. Androgenic steroid- means testosterone derived.

Yes I agree Anabolism or Anabolic can be summed up as to grow tissue, Androgen is a blanket reference to male hormones & Androgenic refers to progression or increase of male characteristics.
Then you kept Androgenic and Steroid together which is throwing me off bud. What is an Androgenic Steroid? Can you explain?
All AAS are based (derived) on the Testosterone molecule. Is that what you're referring to?

I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread.....
Not all hormones are steroids.....for example insulin. It's a hormone but not a steroid.
