Sounds like your balls are trying to distance themselves from you.

Have you done something recently that may have upset them or made them feel un-welcome in any way?
An insensitive remark at a vulnerable moment? Physical harrassment? Aggressive grooming?

Have you tried the direct approach and just ASKED them?
I find my balls respond best when I'm brutally honest with them.

Sometimes they just need their space, try not to smother them and just be supportive.
