Success and imrpovements with less mg

For a long time I was doing 200mg/wk of test and 125mg/wk of deca, and such seemed to work well for me for quite sometime... But then that amount of deca seemed to be too much so I'd remove it and not like the after-effects... then I'd add it back in and quite not like things either... so I finally said "alright dude, quit being stupid", and instead of ping ponging back and forth I lowered it down by another half to 1/4cc aka 62.5mg with my weekly 200mg test...

Well, I'm pretty beat up and even though I love strength I'm not super pushing intense to try and avoid some overuse injuries, but last night I had a new unplanned PR on deadlifts and squats (I do both on the same day because that guarantees I don't overdo the volume on either movement, because when I used to train each on their own day I'd push way too much to the point of injury)...

The pr was totally unplanned and unexpected, I just suddenly felt an extra boost of drive and since I could feel it was there, I decided to push it because when the getting is good might as well go for it!

I'm sharing this because mentally in my head thinking about being on "less gear" really doesn't sit well with me, but not only am I on less now than ever before, I'm still managing to increase on the strength parameters, so I figured I'd share this all with you!

Why? Because if you're anything like me, in the back of your head you're probably thinking you should be on less mg and know it'd be better for your health and longevity, but whether you love the size and/or strength you keep pumping more and more and ignoring your health, so I'm here to tell you that you can still make improvements without high dosages!

Granted, if I were younger and my body could tolerate high doses I would be blasting my socks off, so for those of you who have health and age on your side I don't blame you for the high mg cycles, I'd be that way too if I had a body that could tolerate such!

Strength is an accumulation of time in my opinion, I've been on many fold over the amount plus more compounds on top and I'm still stronger today on far less... So really at the end of the day I believe so long as we have something in the background working, keep consistent with training, get good rest/recovery and food intake.... I think a lot of what we do can be overkill, I mean for sure it definitely ramps things up no question, but I just like to raise the flip side and make it known that we don't need as much as we often think we do, so long as we are consistent time will get us there!

I’m gonna attempt a major blast this year, prolly my last big one. Doing it right though, bloods and all. But I do well at 250/500 deca/test cyp..

I still will blast on occasion for short bursts and that's right about the same numbers I'll do, at first I love it but I only seem to last about a month before lowering it back down, I'm definitely not done blasting either mentally but my body is definitely saying lets just keep going with the lessor for now. My last go with things I ran into some slight tears/strains and had to back off and lift light whilst recooping/recovering, maybe down the line if I feel things keep grooving well I might increase.... but that's the funny part about hitting a PR now, you'd think I would've had it back then and not now so this was an interesting anomaly to me. I think it's because I've gave myself more recovery days and probably was a bit overtrained before. I think we think that gear makes us like wolverine... but age and strength means we usually need more recovery and less overall volume... I've found I don't need as many sets and reps to maintain and even increase, and in fact if I cut volume down I wind up doing better... it's really bizarre! I had previously whilst blasting hit some new deadlift PR's and then failed a really significant marker just above the knees, so I figured oh I just need more lock out power and to work on glute/hamstrings, but the moment I added more work in things went in reverse... and now that I backed off I hit something I wasn't even expecting I would get!
