Thread: Mickey Mantle or Joe DiMaggio?

Who would you rather have? I got Joe. Not only was he a good player, he also was banging MM.

Nice question. As a self-admitted baseball lover, player of the game into the minor leagues & native okie, i feel obligated to chime in. Having said that, you may think I'd side with the native of this state, but i have to side with Joe D. And not because he was bangin MM, although that alone should qualify. He was just more solid, had only 1 subpar year, was so instinctual that he didn't have to make the flashy plays. He was always in perfect defensive position. If you read historians & players from that era talk, he wasn't as fast as Mick but was a better baserunner. The man also served our country for 3 years during a world war & came back just as good. Again, only 1 "down" statistical year. His hitting streak of consecutive games still stands to this day & he was an overall solid dude, never out of control or brash, like Mick. Both were probably top 10 players to ever play the game but in my opinion, i say Joe D, fwiw. Good question though brother
