The Drudge Report is where millions of news junkies of all political persuasions go to get their daily morning fix. What those people don't expect as they sip their coffee is a malware infection.

Fairfax, Va., security firm Invincea (http://www.invincea.com/2013/06/kia-the-washington-free-beacon-compromised-to-serve-up-malware/) noticed yesterday morning (June 10) that Drudge's front page linked to a Washington Free Beacon piece entitled "NSA Leaker Surfaces in Hong Kong (http://freebeacon.com/nsa-leaker-surfaces-in-hong-kong/)."

The Free Beacon story contained malware that triggered a drive-by download onto visiting Web browsers. (The piece has since been cleaned of malware.)

The story's writer tried to link NSA leaker Edward Snowden to the Chinese government. Meanwhile, the story's readers were subject to the kind of attack often used by Chinese state-sponsored hackers (http://www.technewsdaily.com/17012-fake-chinese-hacker-reports.html).
