There won't be any federal agents at the DEF CON hacker conferencehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.technewsdaily.com/18517-defcon-no-feds-allowed.html#) in Las Vegas this August.

In a brief posting on the official DEF CON website (https://www.defcon.org/index.html) last night (July 10), DEF CON founder Jeff "The Dark Tangent" Moss asked that federal law-enforcement and intelligence personnel stay away this year.

"For over two decades, DEF CON has been an open nexus of hacker culture, a place where seasoned pros, hackers, academics and feds can meet, share ideas and party on neutral territory," Moss wrote. "Our community operates in the spirit of openness, verified trust, and mutual respect.

"When it comes to sharing and socializing with feds, recent (http://www.technewsdaily.com/18291-prism-shouldnt-surprise-you.html) revelations (http://www.technewsdaily.com/18284-verizon-nsa-faq.html) have made many in the community uncomfortable about this relationship," he said. "Therefore, I think it would be best for everyone involved if the feds call a 'time-out' and not attend DEF CON this year."

especially with the recent revelations that Microsoft built backdoors into all their online products for the feds to bypass encryption...coming out just months after Microsoft denied that they had or would ever do any such thing. Should be a nobrainer but stay away from skype, or any IM or email services owned by them as the feds dont even need a court order to access your info or record your communications from there.
