DENVER (CBS4) – Police are still piecing together what led to a violent fight in a private parking lot near Sports Authority Field at Mile High after the Broncos loss to the Chargers on Thursday night.

Authorities arrested three people after at least three people were stabbed. One person who was stabbed has critical injuries.

The fight took place just before 10 p.m. Denver police told CBS4 people in two different cars started arguing and then the fighting broke out.

The three people who were stabbed were taken to the hospital. A fourth person may have also been stabbed and left the scene.

“I’m not sure whether this had anything to do with the outcome of the game or something independent of the game,” said Sgt. Steve Warneke said.

“Those things will hopefully come to light once we complete our investigation.”

One Broncos fan said the scene was very chaotic.

“I just was standing on the other side and all I heard was a bunch of noise and people running,” Michelle Mestas said.
Police said it wasn’t clear whether there was gang activity involved in the incident.

Stadium Management Company issued an email stating that it is working with authorities.
The stabbing is just one of several recent incidents involving football fans.

Earlier this month in Kansas City, Mo., a man died after an altercation in the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot during Kansas City’s game against Denver.
In September in San Francisco, a teenage fan suffered a concussion and a broken arm and nose at Candlestick Park after police say he was attacked during the 49ers’ game against Indianapolis.

I've been a season ticket holder for my team for many years and it seems like violence during and after the games has been escalating in recent years.
