According to a press release by the OCSD, an eight month investigation by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit concluded during the early evening hours on Friday, March 7. The investigation was focused on the alleged distribution of large amounts of anabolic steroids in Ohio County.

On Friday evening, OCSD detectives learned of a sale that was supposed to take place in the Pleasant Ridge area. OCSD detectives and deputies staked out the area. Around 5 p.m., a vehicle driven by Douglas W. Vance, 37, of the 4500 block of State Route 554 in Utica, pulled into the parking lot of Mitchell’s Market.

Deputies observed a drug transaction take place, and then stormed the vehicle. Vance was taken into custody without incident. He gave officers consent to search his home in Daviess County. Detectives of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office assisted OCSD detectives at Vance’s residence. While there, DCSO detectives found more anabolic steroids. Vance now faces felony charges in Daviess County.

Vance was charged with two counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance (anabolic steroid). He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing, and there could be more arrests in this case.

Looks like the war on drugs has been a roaring success, boys. No one's gonna be able to buy steroids again after a major bust like this.
