COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police charged John Kibler with giving steroids to a student in the weight room at Big Walnut High School.

On Friday, a prosecutor dropped that charge.

Kibler signed his guilty plea and then told a Delaware County judge about the stash of illegal steroids police found in the basement of his Sunbury home.

“After they got my truck, they issued a warrant and they went to my basement and found that I had some testosterone, steroids,” said Kibler.

Kibler admitted that he had three vials of illegal steroids. He claimed the drugs were for personal use. In exchange for admitting that, the prosecutor dropped charges that he gave steroids to at least one student at the high school.

Last fall 10 Investigates exposed that alleged connection to Big Walnut High.

The 10 Investigates report showed police detectives swore they had evidence that showed Kibler, who has been previously convicted of drug trafficking, gave student athletes illegal steroids. Police documents we found said the students were athletes that Kibler was assisting in the school's weight room. But the case developed a problem.

“Part of it is evidentiary, this case goes back to 2010,” explained prosecutor Carol O’Brien.

O'Brien says the big issue was that at least one of the students allegedly involved wants no part of testifying at trial.

“We also have a juvenile victim who has since turned 18 and wasn't very interested in having his name attached to the use of steroids,” she added.

Kibler was also convicted of having the illegal prescription drugs and Cialis. His attorneys declined to comment.
