On Wednesday August 27, 2014, I ruptured my bicep during a workout. This thread will be a log of my recovery. I hope it will aid in my recovery while providing useful information for the brotherhood!!

First visit to the Orthopedic Dr. on Thursday 8/27 validated the injury however, due to insurance guidelines, an MRI could not be completed for a couple of days. (BULLSHIT!!) So, I have to go back to the Dr. in a few days for the MRI.

I decided to go out of town for the weekend to relax, reflect on how this injury occurred and devise a plan for 100% recovery. This was a great idea because I'm no longer angry about the injury but excited about my recovery.

Hope you guys decide to follow along!

Here are some pics of both of my biceps this morning. The injury is to the left bicep. Not sure if you can see the bruising of the forearm.

Shit, kicks. Looks tender.

I highly reccomend some arnica gel to give you some relief. It is a topical solution with no smell or menthol sensation. It relieves bruising.

Epsom salt in the bath, too. Calm you down and and put you in a less tense place like you had hit a switch.

If the bath is not an option, soak a shaving towel in warm Epsom salt water and wrap the elbow up. Then take an additional towel and wrap it around the Epsom soaked towel to keep dry. You could incorporate a heating pad between the two towels, too. Put the heating pad in a plastic grocery bag before you wrap it in the layer.

Doing this an hour or so before bed will help relieve the pain and allow you to relax and wind down

I agree with you bro, they both did wonders for me when I tore my quad. I'm confident with your experience and knowledge you'll be back to your old self in no time. Good luck boss!

Ok my brothers, I received the MRI results this morning.
90% rupture of the distal bicep tendon. Surgery is scheduled for next Thursday.
Here is the rehab protocol is I got from the Dr.
First 7-10 days
Immobilization in splint with elbow at 90 degree of flexion
Encourage digital, shoulder ROM
Elevation
Pain Control
Phase 1 (1 week to 6 weeks)
Elbow immobilization in flexion-assisted brace with extension stop at 30 degrees
Gentle supervised passive ROM (active tension) from 30 degrees to 150 degrees
Passive supination / pronation with elbow at 90 degrees flexion
Digital / Wrist ROM encouraged
Edema control
May initiate gental bicep isometrics at 4 weeks
Phase 2 (6 weeks to 12 weeks)
Discontinue elbow brace
Unrestricted active and passive ROM and supination / pronation
Light strengthening - Avoid eccentric contractions
Phase 3 (12 weeks - 6 months)
Continue with strengthening protocol
Clearance for full unrestricted activity between 4-6 months at discretion of surgeon.
Of course I plan on a 100% recovery and will be updating you guys on my peptide protocol but, surgery comes first.

Home from the hospital and trying to rest. The dr. estimated the surgery would take 45 min. however the damage was worse than expected when they opened me up. Took 2 1/2 hrs. of surgery to make things right. Looks like I'll be setting off the metal detectors from now on. Percocets dont seem to be working too well, especially when the muscle spasms. I will be outlining my peptide protocol soon. Nap time fellas.

Glad your back at home resting brother.

Worse than the Doctor thought and took longer huh? That is a positive thing RM. Sounds like the Doctor wants to do a complete fix and do right by you. Your recovery will go well.

Keep that strong mindset my friend.
