Customers have used Wal-Mart's price-matching promotional in order to purchase $400 PlayStation 4 consoles for a fraction of the retail price using third-party sellers on Amazon.com, CNBC reports.

Earlier this month, the retailer announced it would begin a price-match promotion with select online retailers including Amazon; However, the website allows any Amazon user with a registered selling account to create authentic-looking sales pages.

As a result, a number of Wal-Mart customers have posted images to Twitter and Reddit showing receipts confirming Wal-Mart accepted fake Amazon listings.

"LMAO Amazon and Walmart jig just got ps4 for $97," reads a tweet from Twitter user Tahaa8, alongside an image of a receipt.

"We're committed to providing low prices every day, on everything," reads Wal-Mart's online price match policy. "So if you find a current lower online price from an online retailer on an identical, in-stock product, tell us and we'll match it."

Polygon has reached out to both Amazon and Wal-Mart for further information and will update as it comes.

Brothers why all the hate towards Walmart ? I'm not asking the question as some avid Walmart fan but we food shop their two / three times a month . The savings are shocking compared to the other food markets in the area.

Is this a union thing or a combination of things that has us celebrating theft ?

Thank goodness my wife does the shopping 75% of the time because I do not enjoy walking through that store especially with my little ones trying to both escape from the cart.

Yes the store does have some great deals and you can save money shopping there although those savings are coming off the backs and sweat of underpaid and overworked employees! Walmart will tear communities down. You can pretty much say goodbye to small business went to Walmart comes to the area the underpriced everyone and move the little guy out!

I read a book called The Walmart Effect, it described how the company screws over so many companies in so many countries and the people who live in poverty, just to save a fraction of a cent so I'm sitting here laughing! I done feel bad for them at all!

Walmart does get a bad rap these days and they are starting to turn a new leaf by paying employees more and treating them better. Still they got a ways to go to earn the trust of customers, suppliers and employees.

Walmart probably gets them for $40.
