Steroid arrest of Pearl babysitters surprises neighbors

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) - A drug raid in a seemingly quiet Pearl neighborhood has some still surprised by what transpired Thursday morning. Three-On Your-Side obtained exclusive video of tense moments between a SWAT team, children, and two people now arrested in a steroid manufacturing case.
Neighbors said they're familiar with the house because the couple would often babysit kids often from their rental home.
"I heard the noise, I stuck my head out the door, and I see them aiming guns at the house and stuff," said a neighbor. "And they were all over the house running left to right."
Cell phone video provided by that neighbor captured the moments after SWAT team members served a warrant at a home in Pearl around 10 a.m. Thursday.
The neighbor we talked to was across the street when it happened. He said he heard a boom that sounded like a transformer exploding.
"It was pretty intense. They threw a flash bang out front. I had never seen that. It's like something you'd see in the movies," he said.
Those individuals, Trina Marie Dixon and Ricky Sessums, are now charged with possession of steroids with intent to distribute.
Sessums also faces a manufacturing charge.
But like so many others, the neighbor tells us he can't believe what was going on behind that door.
"I wonder how they got caught, because no one ever knew what they had going on in there," he said.
Many neighbors said they were familiar with the babysitting business the couple ran out of its home, located in the 700 block of Sandy Lane.
That morning, some said they heard screaming when the SWAT team and members of Pearl police arrived to serve a search warrant on the premises.
Capt. Brian McGairty said the couple was babysitting two children inside as that raid transpired.
Many who lived nearby had nothing but kind words to say about the couple now facing several charges.
"They're lovely people over there. We don't have no problems with them, I mean, they've been here for the Thanksgiving dinner, the Christmas dinner," the neighbor said. "You just don't think that one of your neighbors or your friend could be that person."
The couple also each faces two counts of child endangerment because of the children inside the home.
McGairty said more arrests could come in this case, which they've been building for some time. He also believes there could be more charges filed against the couple as well.
