Linux. Who uses it and do you like it??

As the title says who here uses Linux and how do you like it?? also if you do like it is it the only OS you use now?? and do you find you can get everything you need to use on Linux to work ok?? i'm thinking of giving it a go and seeing how it is. i love that there only seems to be 48 virus worldwide for it (so they say) so just interested in you guys thoughts on it if you're a user.

I been running Linux for years brother. Linux mint, Ubuntu, fedora and suse. Not sure if you can completely ditch windows it really just depends on what your computer needs are?

That's the feeling i get. i guess the best way would be dual boot and partition your HD just in case you need to use something on windows would be the way to go. so i take it you like using it??

Yes i like it and another way to do it would be to put another hd in your machine. Leave the windows one out and install Linux on the new hd so your grub boot loader only sees the linux drive and then after you have installed linux put the other drive back in. When you start the machine just go into your bios and decide which hd to boot from. Yes i like the freedom of Linux a lot but i also am really liking windows 10 as well

I saw this suggested by someone else as well so i guess that will be the way to go. not used windows 10 yet but a few of my friends really like it. appreciate the info. im sure ill have a few more questions. ill let you know how i make out.

Windows 10 is awesome to use on one hand, but on the other it is the biggest piece of spyware i've ever seen. Ill explain further in a different thread. Kubes is about the only other person i know on here that uses some form of linux distro. Listen to what he has to say.
Just a bit of further info...if you are running windows 10...your best bet in my opinion is to run a usb live persistence version of one of the top supported distros...ubuntu, ubuntu gnome, mint, fedora, suse. i know for sure ubunto and mint have UEFI compatibility with windows 8, 8.1, and 10 secure boot. its all a pain in the ass, especially with win 10. another way to go about it is to try running it on a virtual machine (eg virtual box) along side windows. but if you dont mind spending a little money ill give you my fav method thats cheap and less time consuming. get on craigslist and buy someones crappy chromebook (which they don't know is a linnux dream come true since chrome is based on a linux system already) and install one different full distro on it at a time , now you can play with each one to see which ones you like best. unbutu gnome flavor is my fav vanilla linux distro...if you are into other cool things after you get some experience using linnux command terminal, check out kali linux or backbox linux ;)
keep your windows machine though since most of the business/personal world uses it. i promise you...you will be sorry if you don't. alot of software you might want to use in the future...especially in my field of work.. do not work with linux as its a (not for profit) os and is not in the best interest of corporatism.

Just as an FYI you can set each hard drive to boot either Uefi or pcie if you are running a modern rig anyway

this would be the easiest way to do it...leave it to me to make it harder than it really is. i suppose i should start thinking outside the laptop...lol

I appreciate the time you took and the info bro. seems there is many ways to skin this cat to be able to check it out. im definitely going to check it out though.
