I looked for a post to latch onto about this topic, but didn’t readily find one, so thought I’d start this. Forgive me if this has already been covered in depth. I felt horrible last September, like a wet blanket was over me – I couldn’t hardly make it through the day because I was sleepy, withdrawn, cloudy thinking and my memory was shot. I wouldn’t even answer my work phone because I couldn’t hold my own in detailed conversations.

Well, the doctor thought depression or low T, so ran blood work and testosterone came back ultra-low, like double digits (the reason will be a separate post). The doctor immediately put me on TRT with TestoGel, but I didn’t get much improvement from it and it costed me, after rebates, about $400 per month, so the Dr agreed to go with test cyp. at 100mg/wk. This had me better than I had felt in years. I was full of energy, not sleepy after lunch, didn’t feel like I had to go to bed at 8:00pm and sex life was bouncing off the rev limiter, which is not normal for this 49-year-old by any means.

Well this great story takes a turn for the worse. My Dr took me off the test injections even though I didn’t want to, so he could see if my test would rebound on its own. He didn’t take into consideration that I’d have to go back down to some really low level and wait which in my estimation is life ruining. He determined that he would put me on clomid therapy in April if I had not rebounded.

Instead of waiting this out, I bought my own clomid and have started 35mg every day and an AI .25mcg every other day. My questions to the brothers is 1. Does anyone have experience with this tactic for TRT and what could I expect if I know my normal production is around 350 ng/dl when I’m natty and functioning normally?
My intentions are to go back to TRT once I find a doctor that understands the desire to be optimal, but I thought I’d at least see what the clomid therapy is all about. Oh, and I’m just going to blow off the April appointment and when I go back for a checkup later I’ll drop the clomid about 4 weeks prior.

Get off the Clomid and get back on test injections - YOU'LL THANK ME LATER. As I have stated in other posts, my younger brother hates needles and so his TRT via injections was short lived (maybe a year at best). His urologist and him agreed to try Clomid (Clomiphene citrate). When he first started on it and dropped the injections his levels bottomed out for months. He's been on it for a little over a year now and his test levels sit between 700-800. He has gained a ton of (fat) weight (went from 200lbs to 248lbs in a year), his sexual desire is almost non-existent so he uses cialis whenever his wife decides she wants him to, he is out of shape, easily fatigued, and looks like a giant blob - my kids literally didn't even recognize him as their uncle at christmas!). He is miserable and ultimately he will probably end up back on injections or androgel or testim.

Remember, doctors work for us - not the other way around. You need to tell your doctor what YOU want to do with your body. It is YOUR quality of life at stake here, not the doctor's! Get back on injections NOW...you won't regret it. If your doctor is unwilling...fire him. Sounds funny, but I've done it to doctors before. Told them to their face they are fired. Your service is no longer necessary. I will find a medical provider who is willing to listen to my input and allow me to pursue the course of action that I know works for me.

john doe is 100% correct.. clomid trt is a thing that exists.. but it will make you moody as hell and just not interested in life. if it worked well im sure people would be using it in a cycle lol. how well it works and what it does is the reason people use it for pct. get back on injections for sure. if you cant get a "normal" dr to get you on it look into a mens health clinic. most will accept many insurances. i did some bloods after a cycle and pct and was really low, i had been thinking about trt anyway for awhile.. so i used some clomid to get my test high-ish and to make sure i started producing sperm again. i froze some sperm and when i got the results back that everything was good, i went to a mens clinic and got on trt. never been better.

Clomid is good for PCT (post cycle therapy) to get your levels back to a normal range. As PCT you would want 50mg per day until blood results show your levels back to baseline (your natural levels before cycling). Once your levels are back to normal range you would start taking 50mg EOD (every other day)...or take 25mg per day. Check levels again in a few weeks to make sure you aren't plummeting. If levels are still good you can discontinue.

The worst I've ever experienced from Clomiphene citrate at 50mg per day was ocasional migraine and blurred vision. Both stopped when i dropped to 25mg daily.

Also, you're probably going to want more than 100mg weekly for TRT. I inject .75cc (175mg a week) and barely feel OK on that. I'm considering going back to 1cc a week (200mg). Good luck buddy and let us know if you need any more knowledge. ..

I found an online mens clinic that tell me they'll shoot for 1,000 ng/dl with test cyp. I have to get a blood test and a physical (including prostate exam) completed, but they tell me they'll have product at my door within 7 days of receiving these two documents. The cost is $200/month and I get a prescription and needles from them.

I'd probably just manage it myself, but haven't quiet got everything figured out on BOP and don't want to behave like a bull in a china shop, so this will be a good interim step until I get my posts and reps up.

Thanks for nudging me in the right direction JohnDoe.

I feel like there is more risk taking clomid for a long time instead of good ol vitamine T ;)

More is known of the long term use of test than clomid in men.

Well, my showdown with my primary care doctor is coming up. I have blood drawn tomorrow and go in for review in a few days. I've been off test since January and all SARMS for a couple weeks; I hope a couple weeks is long enough for cholesterol, estrogen, hematocrit etc. to stabilize, so that he doesn't have an argument when I insist I go back on TRT instead of trying clomid treatment.

Thanks JohnDoe. It was an interesting consult. The doctor is obsessed with finding a reason that my T is so low and wants to "fix it". He still wanted me to go on Clomid and I told him I wasn't interested. My level was 57ng/dl at this blood draw. Since I wouldn't agree to the Clomid he felt bad for me and pulled out a bottle of Cyp and gave me a couple hundred mg on the spot and prescribed me 200mg every 2 weeks. He also scheduled me for an endocrinologist too. My argument that at my all time best T-level since I've been seeing this primary care doc is 350, which is too low, so why make my system function on its on and leave me in the range that has all the negative sides of low T. Dealing with the medical community has been one of the more frustrating processes of my life.

I was originally prescribed 2cc (400mg) every 2 weeks by my urologist. I took it upon myself to break it up and do 1cc per week to help stabilize levels (if you do it every two weeks you will notice in the last half of the second week you are feeling like shit, getting headaches, tired as hell - as the test levels start to plummet).

200mg (1cc) every two weeks is not a whole lot. However, I would stick to what the doctor prescribed - EXCEPT I would do 100mg per week (.5cc). You could inject that small of an amount almost anywhere you want. I'm currently prescribed 175mg (.75cc) per week. After having an open conversation with my urologist about how I've been doing weekly injections instead of every two week and told her why I was - she was cool with it.

My urologist was also obsessed with finding the reason behind my issue too. After like 2 years and too many vials of blood drawn to count - they still have no clue. My urologist also sent me to see an endo.

The endo literally told me: "I don't know why your urologist even sent you to me. All of your bloodwork looks normal except your T levels. There's nothing I can do for you. Sometimes you cannot find the underlying problem and have to just treat the symptoms. Prescribing test injections is treating the symptoms - kinda like putting a bandaid on it."

Good luck buddy!!
