It's hard to explain the exact spot but middle of the back to the left , about 6 inches above the left hip, finger length distance from the end of left side

Heavy squats and DL's in your routine? Regardless, check out "Eric Cressey Lower Back Savers"; he has several articles and is very knowledgeable about injury rehab (I followed his shoulder saver tips to completely fix a shoulder impingement that was troubling me for almost a year) . I know you said it was in your mid back, but I'm sure you will find good tips to correct the issue.

Check out a good chiropractor and an Inversion table

From the location you described it sounds like it's your QL muscle. Look it up on Google and see if it fits the location. If it is your QL you just strained and/or pulled it and it needs to rest or you need to have stretch it. PNF stretches are the best way to do it - just look up PNF QL stretches on YOUTUBE. A chiropractor will NOT do you any good and you should NEVER go to one and an inversion table will not benefit you at all for something like this!!
Feel better!!!
