how to delete double photos

i have a whack load of doubles on my computer which im sure it's taking up a lot of space
is there a free program which will find and delete them?
i don't want to manually delete a thousand of them

I don't think there is a program due to he fact that every picture name is probably dif. By dif I mean xxxx, xxxx[1] or xxxx(copy) which made every pic different. I guess the best thing to do is go one by one and delete those pics that you don't want. Of course, I may be wrong. Hopefully somebody has a better and concrete answer.
