View Full Version : Tennis Elbow Cold Wrap while lifting?

Can anyone suggest a cold elbow wrap or a compression wrap that I can wear while lifting?

Is this a bad idea? I can't squish a tomato in my right hand at the moment. My elbow is garbage.

Any other brilliant ideas? :)

I've dealt with elbow tendinitis for years. Had to take 3 months off at one point since I couldn't do anything without terrible pain. These past 8 months I've finally be able to lift heavy again.

With that said, if you're unable to do simple tasks like turn a door knob, shake hands or squeeze a tomato without pain, then you need to take some time off. I know that's not what anyone wants to hear, but it's unfortunately the best action for tendinitis. If you're like me and most others you don't enjoy missing the gym. If you're going to train regardless, the best advice I can give you is.... If it hurts, STOP! Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. If it hurts, stop immediately and try a different exercise that doesn't hurt. Stay away from any straight armed moments with free weights. Front lateral raises with palms face down were the worst for me and I still don't do them today. Mess with your hand placement and see if that helps.

Here's a couple things you need to do.
Rest
Water
Fish oil

The compression sleeves and tennis elbow harness work for some, but didn't do shit for me. McDavid makes a decent sleeve if you're looking. I wore one while I slept, but not sure if it helped or not. Ice, heat, massage and stretching didn't do much either. Time/rest, eliminating the movements that cause pain and cutting out dairy is what did it for me.

Remember, tendons and ligaments aren't oxygenated like muscles. It takes much longer for them to heal.

I would suggest the healing Regiment of bpc 157 and tb500. I usually on my shoulder and brachial and it worked great. I put my brother in California on the same regiment and he had tennis elbow so bad he could barely touch dumbbells. After 5 weeks he says he's about 90%

Ive had the same issues.It gets inflamed from time to time.I wear a strap that goes around your forearm right below the elbow,works good to distribute the tension.you can get one at any drug store. If it gets too bad,you might want to see your doc about a cortirsone shot.

I play tennis and I lift. I have had an epicondylitis for years now because I'm stubborn and refuse to listen to my body.

Believe me, your tennis elbow won't heal unless you stop working out for a while. Shockwave therapy and acupuncture will help but don't expect miracles.

Meh. Even if it helps, it's only a band-aid and won't truly fix the problem.

this has been the absolute truth for me also. Deca bandaids have only given me more injury when I come off.

What dosage/schedule would you recommend. Looking into this now. Looks like maybe 1mg/day each? I hope this stuff works lol.

Thanks all. I ordered straps and wraps for both arms and I'm trying to take it easy for now...

We'll see how many consecutive leg days I can stand lol.
