I got disqualified 2 days in a row trying to donate. Once for high BP and once for high hemoglobin levels. There are some things I did for both that worked.

1. For high BP I took double my BP med dose and popped a Cialis and was in range.

2. For Hemo levels I took 2 325mg aspirin and that did the trick.

You can't do the aspirin and donate platelets but you can donate whole blood.
It sucks that the 2 reasons I donate for, blood pressure and Hemo levels are the main things they check to disqualify you. The things I did worked tho. I'm not sure how safe it is but I got by free of problems. If there's other better tricks I'd love to hear them. Always looking to improve my game.

Just go to the local Red Cross and donate blood no hassle at all.

That is where I went. The first thing they did was check bp and hemo and although I was barely above their range guidelines they wouldn't budge and disqualified me.

Drink tons of water.....iron in blood is dilutional. I doubt the aspirin directly affects iron levels but it will make you less likely to stroke out with thick blood and high blood pressure. Higher doses aren't necesarily better to thin blood.

Just go to the local Red Cross and donate blood no hassle at all.If your hemoglobin is over 18.5 they wont take it. Thats his point.

Depending on your blood type power red is much more effective also.

I buy blood bags on EBay and do it myself! I tested positive for antibodies for Hepatitis C ten years ago my body cleared it no Hep C thank God, but cannot donate blood. I went to the local blood banks and asked if I could pay them to take a pint they all said it requires a doctors note and they would charge $250.00!!!!!

Teejay is right about the water. I've been too high on HTC and drank water in the lobby, retested, and was good to go.

If you are on trt you can get a therapeutic draw for free from Carter blood care even if you are ineligible to donate.

not for nothing but my HCT is always too high and they let me donate, at the red cross but it's a full time red cross facility, not a blood drive at a school or something. One time, the "manager" of the facility had to enter some code to get their system to let me donate.
If you are just doing a regular whole blood donation then drinking a bunch of water makes what you are trying to do here, less effective. If you thin your blood up temporarily, you are just donating thinner blood. You want to donate your blood when you are under normal conditions or even slightly dehydrated. This is how I see it anyway.
Like someone else said, always donate "power red", which they used to call "double red". The drinking water thing is a lot better if you are doing this type of donation because they take your blood out, extract the red portion, then pump the rest back in (twice).
as far as being rejected for High BP, that's never happened to me but I've been rejected for too high of a Heart Rate. Funny because that's partially why I need to donate.
I had too much caffeine and took a modafinil that day so that's what caused it. I have an abnormally high HR anyway so I have to make sure that I've had zero stimulants before going.
The only thing w/power red is that you can't donate as frequent but it's still better.

how do they check hemocrit without you actually donating?

Also what is wrong with the blood with the issues you said you had? could they not use it or something?

Possibly he meant hemoglobin? They check my hemoglobin each time I donate - it’s just a quick pin-prick and then the stick the sample in a little machine and it tells them immediately. Even if the reading is slightly high, they never have a problem and always let me donate.
