In October I had a major flare up of the above! We scheduled an endoscopy which I got two weeks ago and revealed the above but no erosion, ulcers or pre cancerous tissue, just inflammation. They put me on protonix which is a ppi to reduce the acidity that’s causing inflammation. I’m wondering how on earth this happened. Could it be from over eating the last 10 years? I’ve never really had GERD but they think that’s it for sure. Anywho just wondering if anyone dealt with this, or even GERD for that matter and what you do. Thx

I stopped taking NSAIDS because of GERD. The symptoms I was having were heart attack-like chest pains (had cardiac stress tests which came back clean). I was having the GERD attacks several times a week, and it was too risky to keep ignoring the pain so I decided to quit the NSAIDs and live with the consequences.

I was taking Prolosec with the NSAIDS and stopped when I stopped taking the NSAIDS, but that left me having severe heartburn about every other day. So now I'm back on the daily Prilosec.

The GERD stopped in days when I gave up the NSAIDS and stayed stopped for months. As luck would have it, I had my first attack in weeks about 4 this a.m.

I also have IBS from time to time. When it has gotten particularly bad I tried probiotic supplement capsules I got from the local health food store, which worked well but takes a while to kick in (the 'good' ones contain living bacteria and require refrigerated storage). I also find that sweet acidophilus milk helps (but I drink more milk than most adults).

I've been thinking about trying CBD oil, too.

Had the same issues since I was in my early 20s. Had surgery to have it repaired, that lasted 10 years. Doc says I blew it out. Currently taking 40mg of pantoprazole and esemeporazole twice a day, without it I can’t function. Like wake up drowning in acid bad.

I've suffered the same. Diet as all you guys know is the culprit. If you can get off the PPI it's better for your health. Check out, DHL Licorice, Slippery Elm Bark, Pau D Arco, I do Cider Vinegar mixed with a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of baking soda then diluted down with water every morning first thing. Bone broth protein helps as well. I quit alcohol and that helped a ton but I was fasting and downing coffee and that can flare gastritis up like a mofo! I believe eating for your blood type is another factor as there's a thread for that in here as well. Everything I've read or seen on the Vegan diet seems to be the ultimate key to a long, disease free, youthful looking life. Especially on the gut....as I just bought a 1/4 of beef!
