VALPARAISO — A Friday raid by the Porter County Drug Task Force points to possible drug charges against a Lake County Sheriff’s Police officer.
According to the search warrant filed June 8, Task Force agents found a laboratory in the apartment in the 3300 block of Reserve Drive in Portage that could be used to manufacture anabolic steroids. Police also found many hypodermic needles.
The apartment belongs to Gary Pilipovich Jr., 29, the search warrant states. A spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department stated by email Wednesday: “Gary Pilipovich is a patrolman with our department.”

The spokesman did not respond to questions about Pilipovich’s status with the department.
The Porter County Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t filed charges, but the warrant lists three possible charges in connection with the search: Possession of Schedule III controlled substances, manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of hypodermic needles.
A possession charge could be a Class B felony, which carries a sentence of six to 20 years.
Porter County Prosecutor Brian Gensel on Tuesday declined to confirm that the raid happened or whether charges were expected. He said he does not discuss cases under investigation.

Police were alerted to the alleged laboratory by the management of Willow Creek Estates apartments.
Pilipovich complained to management about mold in his apartment, and when a manager went into the apartment to check it out, that person “discovered vials, a burner, chemistry equipment, cooking implements, hypodermic needles and a nitrous oxide tank,” the warrant states. There were also numerous books on the use and manufacturing of steroids, and the manager took photos before calling police.
Police also found a jar of l-lysine, an amino acid used to make anabolic steroids.
Records also show a suit to evict Pilipovich filed Monday in Porter County Superior Judge Jeffrey Thode’s court. An ejection hearing is set for July 2 and a damages hearing set for Aug. 13.

indicate that no is is to come in unless I am home. I always say due to past bad experiences. If they try to come in my Jack Russells

Here is some info on L-lysine:

L-lysine is an essential amino acid (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Essential_Amino_Acids) and therefore must be supplied in the diet. L-lysine's popularity as a supplement began as some studies found it to have antiviral action against herpes simplex virus (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Herpes_simplex_virus).[1] (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/L-Lysine#cite_note-hendler-0).
Food SourcesThe following foods have the highest concentration of L-lysine.

Rich Sources: meat, poultry, milk
Other Sources: cheese, eggs, fish, lima beans, potatoes, soy products, yeast
Proteins found in grains are typically low in L-lysine; small amounts are found in vegetables and fermented foods.
UsesThe following are the primary uses for L-lysine: [1] (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/L-Lysine#cite_note-hendler-0)

Herpes Simplex Virus (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Herpes_simplex_virus_(Cold_Sores)): Several clinical studies show that L-lysine is beneficial in preventing and shortening outbreaks of herpes simplex infections.
Osteoporosis (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Osteoporosis): One study has shown that L-lysine increases intestinal absorption and improves renal conservation of calcium (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Calcium) thus it has been considered in the treatment ofosteoporosis (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Osteoporosis). More research is needed in this area.
Prescribing Considerations

L-lysine is available in capsule, powder, and tablet form.
No RDA has been established for L-Lysine. To determine what your specific requirements are talk to your naturopathic doctor or other trained medical professional.
Safety

General Adverse Effects: High doses (>10-15g/day) may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Nausea), abdominal cramps, and diarrhea (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Diarrhea).
Pregnancy Breastfeeding: One should only consider using supplemental L-lysine at this time if the diet is low in this amino acid (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Amino_acid).
Contraindications: L-lysine supplementation is contraindicated in those with the rare genetic disorder hyperlysinemia/hyperlysinuria.
Precautions: Proteins high in L-lysine relative to L-arginine (http://www.ndhealthfacts.org/wiki/Arginine) such as casein are associated with elevated cholesterol. Therefore, individuals with hypercholesterolemia should be cautious of this if interested in supplementing with L-lysine. Those with hepatic and renal failure should also exercise caution if using supplemental L-lysine.
Drug Interactions: None are expected.
