Hello All:

I have been in this game since the mid 80's and have had my share's of the up's and downs in my career and have learned from them.. I was dumb when I was young and did my STUPID LIFTING bc I had to show all that I was the shit.. BIG MISTAKE, I injured my back bad and to this day, it never gets better. I have 3 degenerated disc's in the lower that will NEVER get any better. I have to compensate when it comes to the power exercises BC my back can not handle the stress and pressure.. What I have learned over the years and years of lifting that we are all subject to injures and as we get older, injuries come quicker and take longer to heal from. So with this said, I came up with my own theory that I totally believe in and that is:

"Smart Lifting is the key to longevity". This is true and I feel if you want to last in this game for the long run, take this theory in consideration. Hope all is well and Peace Out to all.. MOB..

I respect your philosophy, I have come to adopt this philosophy myself. As sad as it might sound I am 27 and can already feel the aches and pains(probably due to working construction and not in the smartest of ways). In college all I cared about was how much weight I could move, now it's all about looking good and feeling good. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated.

Shoulder surgery, deteriorated disc, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, epidural shots to walk cortisone in the knee, 30% tear in right distal bicep tendon and yet I still lift heavy. I try to always go light and a lot of reps but that doesn't last long. It's not in my blood. I used to have 23in arms.. Miss that shit as they still get big but my right one doesn't quite tighten up and swell all the way like it did b4 the tear. I'm gonna keep on keeping on until my body quits. Why because it what makes me happy, clears my mind, balances my life and keeps my sanity. If I don't lift and lift heavy everything in my life gets fucked up. Been doing it 27yrs and going to do it until I die!

I also came to realize that if I keep pushing my self to lift some heavy ass weights sooner or later my body will start to break down weather I like it or not. So that's why I have to put my pride aside and lift smarter. You gotta ask yourself if you wanna keep lifting for a long time then you just gotta be smart about it

I think we all come to a reality check in this sport to find our peaking points and we all make those decisions carefully. In the end, its all about what works best for us as an individual and what makes us happy so I respect all
members opinions here on their opinions and choices... Thats what the forums are for.. Peace out. MOB..
