I wasn't sure how I felt about it going in, but I'm absolutely hooked! I love it! I know the boxing purists hate it, but the fights are pretty good. The only thing is that most of the fighters are seasoned and older but they put on a great show. I'd like to see some up and coming guys but I get the risk vs reward factor compared to the mma world. Lots of broken hands and cut faces, bloody af and I can't stop watching. Anyone watch it?

I remember reading an article a long time ago about John L. Sullivan and some of the other last bare knuckle boxers around the turn of the century. According to the article, many people mistakenly believe that the invention of the boxing glove came about to protect fighter's heads. According to the article the glove was originally invented to protect the fighter's hands. They felt like too many fighters were injuring/breaking their hands during fights.
I may try to look some of it up on YouTube. Thanks for the tip. It might be interesting to see some of that old-school stuff...

Last year we went to one on the coast, and set three rows away from the ring. Honestly the most fun I've had at any sporting event.

Boxing purists who hate it don't know their history as bare knuckles are the roots of boxing. In fact, gloves cause more brain injuries as you can hit harder without risking hand injury. Ironically, though, they were introduced to make fights last longer, not protect hands.

A pugilist isn’t trained to fight with gloves.

A pugilist isn’t trained to fight with gloves.Exactly, this is true. When I was boxing (not professionally), we only wore gloves during sparring and mitt work. I did start heavy bag work with bag gloves, but as I got better, I moved to wrist wraps.

I do not advise anyone hitting a bag bare handed, though. It will rip your skin off. I have seen many cock guys trying to show off only to leave with there knuckles torn up and the bag unharmed.

I actually enjoy watching StreetBeefs on YouTube. Most are just silly, but once in awhile you get a good bout.

Is rather comical when the person talks tough then is thoroughly handed an ass whipping.

Agreed. As a while I try to avoid fights. And have even been asked why I didn't get on top of someone and pound them after knocking them out. I believe just because I can doesn't mean I should
