The time has come for yet another log. This time I’ll be running mainly XT Labs products unless there is something else that isn’t offered via their product line.

Last year I placed 11 out of 29 guys and was flat as a board. My only critique was bring more depth, which if I had the pop from being full would have been there. So this years goal is to bring the same level of conditioning and come in full as a mofo so my muscles will have some pop to them instead of looking washed out.

I’m 14 weeks out so it’s time to start the process of getting peeled. Currently sitting at 244.0lbs (down from peak weight of 265lbs) and my weight cap is 197lbs so I’ll have to come in around 196.5lbs or so to make weight then fill back up. I’m hoping once I fill out I can hit the stage around 203-207lbs give or take which will have me as one of the biggest guys in my weight class.

So with that being said I’ll be documenting every step of this prep. The Diet, the training, the cardio and everything in between. My next post I’ll go over my gear protocol, current diet, training program & cardio... Let’s get to work!

As I stated in my intro post I started at 265lbs before cutting. The last 6 weeks I’ve been cruising, lifting heavy as possible to maintain the size I’ve gained and slightly tapered back some carbs + cut out one cheat meal per week (1 left). Cardio was at 20 minutes fasted + 10 minutes post workout.

As of today carbs got reduced, fats for my first meal got dropped and cardio was increased to 30 minutes fasted + 15 minutes post workout. Also my gear got bumped from 250mg test E per week + 2ius gh ED to 750mg test E per week + 600mg EQ per week + 4ius gh ED.

My current workout split is as follows:
Monday - back thickness & hamstrings
Tuesday - chest & triceps
Wednesday - legs (quad focused)
Thursday - back width & biceps
Friday - shoulders & traps
Saturday - legs (squat focused day)
Sunday - rest day (sometimes do fasted arm workout).

My gear protocol & supplement protocol is as follows...

EQ: 600mg per week
Aromason: 25mg (Mon/Weds/Fri/Sat)
Provi: 50mg ED

Diet is currently at 2.9K calories. Protein is 301g, carbs are 356g & fats are 33g. And I’m also having 1 cheat meal per week.

Day 1: Monday August 5th

**Notes:
Today is probably one of my favorite days because it’s not only challenging but it’s taxing as well. I pretty much follow this same routine every Monday and try to get a little stronger or better each new session. It’s brutal but I love it. I embrace failing in a set because I know that means I’m sending the ultimate stimuli to my body to tell it to grow and get better.

My diet is literally the same everyday except perhaps sometimes I throw some fish in there or some sweet potato. If not this is what it’ll be every, single day. And I love it.

Feeling really good with where I’m at this point of prep. Mentally I’m in good space and have been dialed in during this cruise phase. I’ve actually gotten stronger then I was blasting and am planning to try to ‘grow’ into this prep as the gear is now getting added back in.

I always like to get ahead of prep so ideally I’ll be ready 2-4 weeks out and bring it on home with a W!!


**Protocol:
Test E: 750mg per week

Hammer single arm rows

Tbar chest supported rows

Calf raises superset with lying leg curls
3 sets, 20/8-12 reps

Seated leg curls superset with machine abductors
3 sets, 15-20/20 reps

Bb stiff leg deadlifts
2 sets, 6-8 reps

Bb deadlifts
2 sets, 4-6 reps

Single leg curls
3 sets, 15 reps

Smith rack pulls
2 sets, 15 reps

Post workout cardio: 15 minute steady state

**post workout shake: 1 scoop whey isolate protein

1:15pm: meal 3 - 6.5oz chicken + 8oz jasmine rice + 1 tbsp macadamia nut oil + 3oz broccoli

4pm: meal 4 - 2 scoops whey isolate protein

6:30pm: meal 5 - 8oz chicken + 8oz jasmine rice
+ 1 tbps macadamia nut oil + side salad with apple cider vinegar

9pm: meal 6 - 7 egg whites + 8oz jasmine rice
+ 2oz asparagus

Hey prime- I had the same issues you did about coming in flat. This last year I did glycogen loading and was full as fuck at 204.
I also used anadrol while cutting. It kept me full. I didn’t need to lose anywhere near the amount you do though.
I would say you need to up the cardio.
I am not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to help with different ideas. Your probably far more knowledgeable than myself.
Also, I read that milk thistle on cycle is not good. It competes for the receptors. I don’t know if it’s actually true, but I only take milk thistle between cycles.

I typically start carb loading Thursday/Friday and then 2 meals Saturday before pre judging and still flatten out. It’s crazy how fast I burn through food. That’s even with throwing in a dirty meal every other meal... how did you do your glycogen load for your last prep?

And of course cardio will be bumped even more as prep goes on. For now this is just the starting point and adjustments will be made as necessary based on my body’s feedback. More then likely fasted will get up to 40-45 minutes and post workout will dam near the same.

I’ve read similar things about milk thistle especially when it comes to taking orals however my coach wants me to run it so I am. Up until this year I ran my own preps however when I got hurt last November I decided that to stay on track it’d be best to report to someone else. So I hired a coach after going through about 5-6 of the supposed best. The guy I hired had the same ideology and methodology as me and he’s got one of the most impressive resumes when it comes to client transformations so I chose him and am following his guidance with faith due to how he approaches things.

Day 2: Tuesday August 6th

**Notes:
Woke up and definitely was feeling yesterday’s workout. Fasted cardio was feeling rough before yesterday but now peeps officially started and the gas pedal is being pushed down I’ve shifted to another gear and in grind mode.

Am already feeling the XT test. I’ve used it before and felt the same way when I switched brands. Definitely on point if not a tad overdosed which is fine by me. Can’t wait until my levels peak from my cruise range to blast mode. However this is my first time using XT EQ so I will let everyone know how I feel later on once it should be starting to shine..

Didn’t sleep well last night due to having a sick puppy so had to get up and take her out a few times to potty. But with all that being said I still had a good workout and my strength wasn’t lagging too much. Not my best day, not my worst day but the effort was there and that’s what matters most.

I tell people all the time not every day is all star day. As much as we’d like it to be, sometimes we are just off. But that doesn’t mean just because we are feeling off that we have to have a shit workout. We are in control of our effort and intensity. As long as those factors are being accounted for and you’re grinding it out I can ensure you you’ll have a pretty good dam workout. Which is what I did today.

4pm: meal 4 - 2 scoops whey isolate protein

10 mg for 4 weeks. I stopped 2 weeks out.
I never stopped carbs. I did lower them 2 days the last week. The glycogen sucked the water out of th skin and into the muscle.

I'm about to stop a 20 week run and my coach Maxamus is trying to talk me into jumping on Decca, EQ and TestE lol
I told him it would be a year run and that I would put on 60 plus pounds because that's what EQ does to me and I never took Decca before so I'd probably have to buy all new clothes and get new tattoos lmao

Chest was a little sore when I woke up and got progressively more tender as the day went on.

Had a great day overall. Especially when it came to training time. Really hit legs hard. Moved decently heavy weight for higher reps on the leg press and it had them cooked by the time I changed stances. All in all another great day in the books.

Thursday is typically my hump day. Monday thru Wednesday’s workout hit all major muscle groups and I’m pretty sore with some CNS taxation so fatigue is definitely there. But no excuses, just factors to be aware of. So I had a great workout nonetheless. Like I mentioned the other day: effort & intensity. Bring those two things to the workout and you’re bound to have a good one.

Day 8: Monday August 12th

**Notes:
Sunday is my rest day as well as a no carb day so nothing special or exciting there.

Today was back to the grind. Was feeling a little taxed still from Saturday’s workout so tried to push but had to alter my workout routine a bit and cut out deadlifts and rack pulls due to how I was feeling. So most likely I’ll be doing those on Thursday or at least one of the two.

All in all I still had a good workout. One of those days where performance wasn’t the greatest so no new numbers but kept a good pace and effort was there which led to a solid lift today.

About 15 weeks out so my coach made a few changes that will start tmrw. Added low dose of Tren & Mast, cut out a carb meal and dropped the other carb meal amounts down as well as upped post workout cardio a bit.

Personally I like things pre workout instead of post. Reason being is your body is in its most anabolic state when lifting so why no have the things that are rather fast acting to help you grow (gh, insulin, orals, etc) at your most anabolic time.

As for gh protocol I’m sure pre or post is fine there isn’t too much of a difference aside from the gh pulse will still be going into post workout if administered pre workout whereas if used post you’ll miss the chance to utilize the pulse pre workout.

Tbh there’s no right or wrong way. I think there are more optimal ways and I try to make sense of what, when and why I do what I do.

On the topic of pre/post workout typically I build everything around that time then outward. Whether it’s food or supplements for that matter.

Think days like that I like hitting higher volume 15-20 reps with slightly lighter weight. However when getting ready for a show it gets tough because eventually everything feels rough lol

Yes I agree. I’ll lighten the load when it’s necessary. But as you also know lifting heavy is what retains your muscle mass and helps you look more dense and grainy. So it’s kind of a catch 22: you feel weak so you want to go lighter, but you still need to go relatively heavy so you don’t shrivel away

Today was leg day. Always a dreadful yet lovely feeling. Had some wins and some losses throughout the workout but it was still one for the books. Really feel like I’m in my zone for this prep. Doing what I have to do to block out the bullshit and focus all my energy on doing what I have to do to be successful in this endeavor.

Really enjoying the process. I tend to find peace amongst the solitude prep brings. At the end of the day it’s all on me. Day 11: Thursday August 15th

**Notes:
Had a great back workout today. Felt a bit stronger then I have all week which was great. Think it’s accredited to me finally adjusting to getting up early and the decrease of calories.

I’ve also assessed my current lifts/progression and have realized what needs to be adjusted in order to hold as much strength as possible. So I’m going to slightly drop the weight from my recent heaviest working sets by 25lbs give or take and work on getting better with that weight. It’s still decently heavy and I’ll try to build to 15+ reps. Looking forward to applying these changes to my training and I’m also starting a new split on Monday to see how it feels in comparison to my current split. Reason being is I feel the spilt I’m currently following is better suited when calories are a bit higher and I’m able to get better recovery/rest when I’m not getting up as early from cardio and dieting down to make weight

Started the week off right with some squats and leg work. Had a good workout all things considered. Been feeling a bit of tightness in my right quad the last few weeks which was the worst it’s been today. So I was rolling out between sets and being mindful. Afterwards I scarped, rolled out, iced & wrapped that leg and it’s been feeling better. Point in mentioning this is to due the pre-hab stuff. Just wear & tear. When you train heavy and have muscle breakdown there can be adhesive tissue that builds which makes the muscle fascia gunk up and become stuck together. Which in turn prohibits the fascia from gliding like it should hence feeling tightness.

Also I still have some ankle mobility issues from my surgery in November so I think it’s also mobility issue + over compensation from the surgery

Woke up feeling yesterday’s back day this morning. Mostly good pain but my hip flexors/thighs have been feeling tight and I’ve been neglecting doing my own stretching and rolling out so things are locking up.

Regardless I still had a killer leg day. Smashed my workout which took a little over 2 hours cardio included. Feeling really good. This week seems to be one of those connecting weeks where the work from before and the work continuing are tying together and I’m getting glimpses of what’s going to be presented in November. I’m truly excited for what I’m going to bring.

Nice Brother! I just started split cardio/weights along with lower kcals. Definitely have to adjust! Can not wait until I can eat like a monster again. Your definitely putting in the long sessions.

Awh man don’t even start. I feel you 100 on that. And it’s only going to get worse [emoji24] but tbh I love the grind, I love the process of getting peeled. I get off on being on low calories and low fuel only to bang out a workout at full capacity. It’s the grind that keeps me going. One things for sure: I will not be outworked...

And another things for dam sure: I can’t wait to eat like a monster again either brotha!!

Sorry I’ve been MIA these past few days. Nothing serious just been caught up with work. I was still able to get all my meals, training and cardio sessions in.

I hit a new low weight of 235lbs this weekend. Another decent drop so hopefully tht trend can continue to happen these next few weeks so I can get ahead of this prep

Meal 3 is heaven. Doesn’t matter if it’s cutting or bulking shrimp & rice is always good!!

And yes im a bit advocate of the adductor and abductor machines. They help add width to the legs and make them look bigger by doing so

Been focusing on rolling out and stretching my glutes & hips as well as work on my ankle mobility. Been noticing a difference which I always do so this time I plan to keep doing that daily: stretch, roll and mobility work. It’s probably one of the most important things you can do.

Wednesday workouts are a love hate thing. I’m excited because not only do I know the workout is going to yield progress but also because I love the exercises involved. However the toll it takes is what can be dreadful. And today was no exception. It was a brutal one. By the time I got to deadlifts I was soaked in sweat. But I got it done. You know you had one hell of a workout when the biceps portion seems daunting.

Body is holding up well. The daily rolling/fascia work has been starting to pay off. This is something I plan to never slack on again.

**Notes:
Was definitely feeling yesterday’s back day this morning from top to bottom, side to side.

And today was one hell of a leg workout. Feel short on the stiff leg deadlifts but that only makes for another goal to get several more reps on that last set next week. Also finished with really deep leg presses close stance. Saw Dante Trudel post about them so gave it a go at the end of my workout. Typically I go to 90 degrees on my leg press but I did them DT style and really liked them. Think I’ll continue to keep them at the end of the workout and build the weight up slowly but surely.

Shoulders are feeling a little sore from yesterday. Was surprised because my shoulders rarely get sore. But it was a pleasant surprise.

What a way to kick off the week. Had a really strong squat session. Hit new numbers and weights on the hack squats. And then proceeded to annihilate my legs. By the last set of the squat/walking lunge superset my quads already felt sore and were borderline cramping. Definitely one for the books and something I plan to build off of.

Day 28: Tuesday October 1st

**Notes:
Today there were not any new numbers hit but I at least was able to stay just as good as last week. And I implemented a little more eccentric based training where I focused on slowing down the pre stretch for 4-5 seconds with a 2 second pause at the bottom before firing to the top with a 2 second squeeze. I refer to them as squeeze sets. Been doing them a bit more as of late and I feel after a few heavy sets they really finish tearing the muscles up. Especially so considering most of the muscle damage and strength gain happens in the eccentric phase.

The adjusted cardio time is going just fine. The morning is a breeze, 5 extra minutes I nothing. And even the added 15 post workout doesn’t seem too bad either. Truly enjoying the process and focused on winning each day. Tmrw will be 7.5 weeks out

Not as exhausted today but definitely can tell the fatigue factor is up a notch like I’ve been noting this week. Regardless had a killer shoulder workout. It’s pretty mind boggling because my muscles feel flat as a pancake but they look pretty full after a few sets into my workout.

Here’s my informal post to end this week...

Yesterday I had a great arm workout. Really been killing them and they’re seeming to gain a little bit more density. Which is good because for some reason my arms will be the first thing to disappear as I deplete down.

Had a decent weigh in today at 217.6lbs. So 20lbs away to make my class with 7 weeks to go. But to be completely honest I’m a bit disappointed with this weeks drop. Thought I’d have more of a 5-6lb drop since last week I only went down 1lb and the changes me for this week really seemed to hit me hard.

But it is what it is. 3lbs is the bare minimum I need to lose to get ahead. Normally I wouldn’t be as adamant about making weight but I want to be ahead so I don’t have to run my body into the ground the last 1-2 weeks just to make weight. No worries though. I’ll have a great drop this coming week. Just gotta keep on grinding away

Yes I know. I’m just set about not having to ‘make weight’ this time. I’d rather be there and be able to fill out while weighing in. Especially since weighs ins are Thursday afternoon and pre judging is Friday morning. Not that much turn around time and I don’t want a full stomach trying to load too much.

For me conditioning is never an issue. It’s coming in full is where I hit turbulence because my body burns through food like no other.

I’m just being greedy and impatient. When I take a step back I’m the leanest I’ve been this far out so definitely on the right track. Thanks for dropping a line and sharing that insight. Appreciate the reminder. Always easier to put things into spectrum when you’re not emotionally attached :D

Tbh I’ve been hungry 30 minutes after meals with carbs. My metabolism is crazy fast. So this will now be 15 minute hunger post meals lol.. but I agree I love the suffering. It’s that sacrifice of instant gratification that leads to a long term sense of accomplishment when it’s all said and done. So bring the pain and let’s get fucking nasty Joko!!

I do colonix before bed with a probiotic supplement as well. I mix the colonix with water and crystal light, let it sit in the fridge and then eat it. Kind of comes out like a jello like texture. Gives me a sense of eating something sweet due to the crystal light with no infringements against the diet.

I have 2 that I transition from one to the other. One of them I don’t see anyone really hit so hoping that’ll stand out. The other is one leg staggered in front of the other while leaning to a side with one hand behind my head and the other flexing bicep..

What’s your go to most classic pose?

Im such a horrible poser it’s really something I need to sit down and work on. You know how it is this division it isn’t a muscle class it’s a presenting your physique in a pretty manner. I’ve been going over every competitor who won their card this year and they are all under sized. But very very good posers for the amateur level. For me a vacuum could really enhance my look, I have a tiny waste but a long torso so I think it would really help. In the past I would the old school side tri where front foot is planted and twist my torso to see my abs and of course tri. Honestly bc it’s a very easy pose to hit. This year I’m going to hit some sort of front double variation.

Made it to and through Friday. Managed to have a good shoulder workout. Strength wasn’t too low either. Fighting diligently to hold on to any strength I can. The goal to keeping your mass and getting hard/grainy while cutting is to continue to slang iron. So slang I shall.

Coach wants me to weigh in tmrw so will see where I’m at. Feel like sunday will yield a better drop but gotta do what coach asks.

Weighed in at 212.5lbs yesterday morning. So had a little over 5lbs total this week. Makes the suffering that much more gratifying.

Not making many changes since the adjustments last week have me moving full steam ahead. Hopefully can keep this pace and get another 4-5lbs drop this coming week.

Had a great arm workout Saturday. Smoked my arms, and tho I don’t really feel a pump they looked pretty full and vascularity was showing nicely.

Today is my rest day. So just taking it easy and doing some stretching. Tmrw is squat day. Can’t wait to do some work

No, I tolerate everything pretty good. Only thing I’m really susceptible to is aromatizing so I always use an AI even during cruise because if I let it my estro will creep up.

Aside from that everything else is smooth sailing.

I’ve found that with short esters pinning everyday helps keep sides minimal to nonexistent. And with long esters I pin 3-4x week

At this point it’s a matter of mental fortitude. You have to go to a place in your mind that allows you to push physical barriers. Because the body is exhausted and wants to just relax. Another surprisingly great workout today. Think my body has adjusted to the new workload and deficit of calories this week because though I feel tired I’m not in complete zombie mode where it’s hard to just stand up or walk.

Finished off the week strong with a great arm workout. Lifting as heavy as I can and not changing training duration or intensity regardless of the caloric deficit or the extra workload via cardio. It’s all good, seeing daily changes and getting that paper thin skin.

Today was my rest day and also had to do my end of check ins with my coach. Check ins went really well. Weighed in at 208.8lbs so down about 4lbs from last Sunday.

My coach was very pleased with how I looked and where I’m at. Made a few adjustments so tmrw we will make another push for another big drop this week

30 seconds high, 30 seconds 30, repeat for 30 minutes then go into steady state for 20 mins to make it 50 total minutes cardio

Had a good chest and tricep workout. Notice my body is responding to the changes my coach made this past Sunday. Feeling more sweaty and running a bit hotter body temp wise.

Definitely a grind to get through the day but I break it down into 3 focal points:

To answer the first question: it’s really dependent upon the person. Adding compounds, yes it’ll help strength loss while in such a deficit but it will happen to some degree. How hard you train in that state will more so determine what you keep or maintain more then the gear. As for upping compounds just depends on the person: I tolerate things well and do not get any sides so I push things a bit harder.

Hell no, I’m struggling everyday man. Standing feels like a chore in itself. If you’re truly cutting hard and getting peeled; it through the road of suffering. There is no way to avoid suffering when truly doing a cut to bring something nasty. It’s a matter of the mind to push through it and grind out the work that needs to be done.

Gained lean muscle... hmmm not sure. Possibly. I’ve definitely maintained what I earned this off season tho. And I’ve recomped so I have much more lean tissue then I did before. But tbh idk if I’d say I gained anything I didn’t already had. More so retained and am refining it.

Weighed in at 203.4lbs. So down roughly 5.4lbs from last Sunday’s weigh ins. With that being said my coach has me do a refeed of 30 rolls of sushi nothing deep fried. Didn’t stand a chance. Tbh it felt like a normal meal. Was still hungry after demolishing.

What I mean is they have women’s physique prejudging on Friday morning and finals Saturday night. I know that’s not unusual nowadays but it’s BS. Most likely will keep AI’s where they’re at.

As for halo it’s used preworkout but also taken throughout the day for more stable levels instead of one big spike and dip. And no interference with my sleep.

I’ve never really taken supps this frequently throughout the day but this is the best I’ve looked so there must be something to it

9pm: meal 6 - 16oz egg whites + big leafy green salad w/ apple cider vinegar

9:45pm: pin 2ius gh + 2 scoops sleep EAA’s mixed with water + 50mcg T4 + 12.5mcg T3 + 80mcg clen + 20mg anavar + 25mg Proviron + 10mg winny + 10mg halo
