ok i understand now. I'm appraching 40 and I don't take near as many supplements as I did when I was younger. Back then I thought the supplements would help me grow bigger faster but really all they did was make my money disappear. I just stick with the basics, protein, amino acids and vit c. occasionaly i may throw in some glutamin only in peptide form though and every now and then i may cycle some creatine.

I have a thread specifically on Amino Acids here. Ton of info. They are very important for everyone and moreso for peeps our age.
All I take are
aminos
cycle creatine like fonz said
and pro form 50 pre made protein drinks
vitamins

Very simple and effective.

I'm at that age as well. Creatine, whey protein isolate and BcAA's are the foundation for the folder athletes.

Agree with Dred. Whey isolate, BCAAs, Creatine and plenty of joint support supplements.

They do not require any more from what I have read rather the change is physique is brought about by the change in hormones in the body.

Mitochondrial inefficiency, decline in protein synthesis, decreased digestive efficiency/nutrient absorbtion are the main issues for most over 40 athletes I train with. More rest is needed too....
