Foods can have many compounds in them beyond just the macro nutrients. And some macro nutrients can break down into active metabolites that can effect metabolism, anobolism, and catabolism. For example. Casien to casomorphin. However beyond this foods can have substances in them that promote growth and effects beyond just what is on that label. One example I learned of lately is buckwheat. Buckwheat protein has 3 times the arginine that casien has . A study in rats found that buckwheat protein extract with a 65.8% protein content boosted muscle hypertrophy more than dietary casein. The rats that feasted on buckwheat also lost more tummy fat than those who consumed casein.

Then there's quinoa . In which some of the saponins were going to possess steroid like activity. There are many chemicals and fractions of nutrients that can lead to anabolism. This is fascinating. I definitely don't think a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. Anyone else know of any anabolics foods beyond just the numbers? I feel there's more to it than just numbers on nutrition labels.

Aw, dang I posted this in the wrong place. Well In that case. My name is Turtle. I like turtle movies. And I want to be the man who looks like he can move an amount of weight with relative ease that would be moderately difficult for an average schoolgirl to move ,and can be counted on to move said weight when said weight needs moving. Thank you. God bless the troops. May the force be with your power banks.

Oh man those look delicious. I like the list of grains in there. That's most of what I've been eating lately. Not refined is key tho. Are these super crunchy? You just get them at the super market? Since switching to a mostly whole grain based diet, no sugar, no processed foods , and lots of saturated fats I've been feeling like a machine. What do you think of goji berries? Red palm oil? I freaking love superfoods. Its so cool to be in a place where other people care too. Most people just don't give a shit at all about diet , macros, etc.

The humble potato. Very underrated non sexy superfood. I think I read once you can survive indefinitely eating potatoes, some milk and the occasional orange as potatoes have so many micro nutrients

I know its kind of a blanket statement but almost any organic, grass fed/the animals natural diet, will have way more growth factors compared to feed lot and grain fed animal products. Myself despite dieting will opt for whole milk organic greek yogurt because the fats in it satiate me more and improve recovery and the same goes for organic milk. Deer meat and organs are on this list as well. Pretty much when an animal eats what it supposed to eat in nature and you consume that animal it fills nutritional needs that lower quality non-organic animal products cant. Organic kefir is god send for getting vitamin K2 which most people are lacking due to not eating enough fermented foods. Raw meat has its own benefits as well vs cooked meat.

When you start really digging into nutrition and what our ancestors ate tou open a huge rabbit hole that forever changes how you look at supermarket meats, veggies, everything. You realize the majority is hollow food with little good stuff to keep our bodies running optimally.
