Wondering if anyone has tried the stronglifts 5 x 5 workout routine? https://stronglifts.com/5x5/ If so how were your results? I'm also wondering if the lifts themselves will keep abdominal muscles in shape or should i add a ab/core routine of some kind? Thanks for any input/advice!

I did it and other 5x5 variations back when I first started lifting. It's good for strength and some general muscle growth, especially beginners. As you become more advanced it's not enough time under tension to maximize muscle protein synthesis I feel. You can definitely still use it as a good strength based routine that offers more volume than most typical strength routines.

As far as adding ab work in I would say most definitely yes. I did not when I ran it and I regret it.

If you're set on running it add the ab work and I'd also say add in a specific body part you want to work on as well. So if you're lagging in the back, or arms, etc add a couple sets of higher reps in for those lagging body parts each lift day. With only 3 lifting days per week you should be able to recover without much issue if calorie intake, recovery work, and sleep are all in check. I hope this helps, and I encourage you consider logging the program if or when you run it so you can track your progress. Good luck bro, GET SOME!
