This glycoprotien has become a particular interest of mine as of late.

I'll kick this off with this...

The way I understand SHBG is it's a glycoprotein that binds to the 3 sex hormones and releases small amounts in the event of a drop off in levels. I describe SHBG as the balancing factor among sex hormones.

What I don't understand, and desperately want to, is does SHBG play the same role once endogenous Test is shut down and only exogenous Test is available...does it possibly respond to LH & FSH?

My interest originated with my interest in having a better understanding of how to interpret blood test results. IMO the blood tests the average Source board members run simply aren't inclusive enough when being used to fine tune protocols in the effort of increasing benefits and decreasing undesirable sides in future cycles. SHBG, DHT, DA (Dopamine), P4 (Progesterone), PRL (Prolactin), SERT (Serotonin)...just to name a few markers that are rarely tested.

IMO is we want to get to the next level thses are the kind of conversations we need to have with ourselves and others. Less talk about little known, "magic" stacks and more talks like this is where I'm at, at age 45.

If ya have anything to share about SHBG and I mean anything, whether it be from personal experience, an opinion or even the one thing l shy away from, a Google copy & paste...pls post that shit up my friends.

Good stuff.

So many variables though right. Like certain meds increase SHBG and certain ones decrease SHBG. Of course that’s gonna play a role on how much is produced by the liver and how much testosterone is cleared.

I have always wondered if guys that seem to need more higher doses to obtain basic results (I say basic as lot of guys are taking close to what pros take and don’t look like them) vs guys like me who can gain some serious size on moderate doses naturally have lower shbg, or maybe it’s something else. No idea just a thought and conversation piece.

The labtestonline site (bottom of the pic) has lots of info on bloodwork analysis & relationships of components.

I guess I have a educational opinion, or a point we could talk about to try and squeeze knowledge from the subject.

I feel in egeneral guys shouldn't be lowering their SHBG out of normal range. I say this because like anything else in the body the best health outcomes usually come from homeostasis or keeping hormones in range. I know many guys feel they'll get improved muscle growth, and I'm sure some will, but in general anytime you manipulate a hormone out of range it throws other things off. Now a balancing act must be played to keep from other things going out of range. I don't doubt there's an appropriate time and place to lower SHBG but I think many guys that throw provirion into a stack just for the hell of it are exposing themselves to more compounds than needed and putting undue stress on their bodies and organs for not much benefit. I could be completely wrong but this just makes sense from a minimal effective dose/health and longevity mentality.

I have heard some coaches and knowledgeable people in bodybuilding speculate that SHBG has indirect muscle growth effects through "downstream or back door" pathways. I would have to dig to find the videos giving this info, if I'm off work today I'll try and find it to post. It would make sense though, when the body is running optimally growth pathways would likely be maximized. I hope others that have heard similar info can chime in and add to this. Great topic Riggs.

Well I agree of course. But then don’t increase your testosterone out of physiological range. That same philosophy holds true as anytime test goes up, e2 goes up etc and other values follow trying to regulate as much balance as possible.

So the healthiest would be yes, to let it all be. But that’s not why we are all here [emoji6]
