During All-Star Game, commissioner David Stern says NBA and players union would be having talks to work out a testing protocol that would be instituted for next season.

According to sources, the NBA and its players union are continuing to work out the details for a test for human growth hormone, but no agreement has been reached.

Despite an Internet report that stated the two sides are close to an agreement to test players’ blood for the first time for HGH, a person with direct knowledge of the talks said on Friday night, “Nothing is close.”

The league already lists HGH among its banned substances, but the NBA has never been able to test for it and is seeking a blood test. Commissioner David Stern said last month at the All-Star Game that the two sides would be having talks to work out a testing protocol that would be instituted for next season.
