In the wake of the latest steroids related scandal to taint Major League Baseball, former Chicago White Sox slugger and Hall of Fame-bound inductee Frank Thomas insists he is strongly opposed to any movement allowing players with links to performing-enhancing drugs into its hallowed halls.

Thomas told ESPN, from time to time, he’s spoken with other Hall of Famers about that very prospect and in each instance their refrain remains the same.

“They say, ‘Hell, no,’ Thomas, who also labels the ongoing Biogenesis scandal as “embarrassing” and “shameful” told ESPN. “They don’t want any of these guys in. These are super-superstars in my eyes, and they're serious about it. I would suggest you get around the Johnny Benches, the Ozzie Smiths, the Dave Winfields and Mike Schmidts. Hold court with them and see how they feel. I've talked to them and it was eye-opening.”

Thus far, the trend among voters has been to punish those with PED ties and the this week’s development where ESPN is reporting as many 20 current MLB players, former league MVPs Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun among them, doesn’t figure to much change that mindset.

Last January, seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens garnered just 38 percent of the vote in his initial ballot appearance and all-time home run king Barry Bonds received an even stingier 36 percent.

For the first time since retiring, Thomas who bashed 521 homers, appears on the ballot his December along with former Atlanta Braves aces Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine.
