More gym like this are opening to cater to your average joe that doesn't want to be surrounded by meat heads grunting and slamming weights on the ground . I attend a gym called Youfit that's similar to planet fitness , only no luke alarm . It would be nice to see a traditional leg press machine instead of a bunch of machines to replace free weights . I'll continue there because it's just as cheap as planet fitness and less then 5 minutes from home . They also stay open later then any hardcore gym .

Only benefit is its insanely cheap. Thinking about getting a membership because I have to travel for work sometimes. Horrified at the idea of this though

But you see, the planet fitness close to me does it right! They train you, then have a free pizza night every tuesday and thursday to undo your hard work so you have to keep coming back! It's pitiful really...

      Yes. I think so.

The largest gym chain in the US.

Leave it be for the masses, brothers.

Be proud you're the exception and know it.

      I can't...

Americans. Only Americans would have a gym chain that has pizza night. Man, I'm a wee rectangle shaped grrl and I'll stick to my tiny gym with almost no competition for the free weights. They have oly bars and chalk's fine. And no smith machine. I might be the only chick who ventures into the back but...

...Pizza night. My gym gives out free apples.

PF is a total joke. Heard they are getting rid of personal trainers.... Not sure if this is true or not, but supposedly the CEO said hiring a trainer was like paying for a friend.

Planet Fitness is a great place to start. I go to Planet Fitness because I have not yet outgrown their equipment. When I do, it will be time to move onto Gold's Gym. For now, my $20 gets me tanning and all the equipment and weights I need to grow for now. It also has a LOT of cardio bunnies - and yes, that is important! However, recently there have been more women back at the smith machines and such - I find them more attractive. Toner, stronger, etc.

Like I said, it is a great place to start out. No fear about what equipment does what. You can do a GREAT cut cycle at planet fitness, at least you can when you start out where I did - I went from about 28% body fat to about 14% in 4 months through exercise, cardio, and (most importantly) a proper diet of whole foods. Eventually I will out grow it, but until then it saves me money and gets me a good work out. Our dumbells go up to 100 pounds, too.
