I use to sumo all the time. Better have strong hamstrings, really put a toll on my hips and knees. I'd suggest stay away unless you're an established power lifter.
I did conventional dls for years till I bulged some discs in the lumbar. Stayed away from them for a long time after that. I really missed the thick muscle they would put on me so I started back going light and doing the sumo style cause I feel I can keep my back in a better position more upright and it feels like a straighter pull if that makes sence. But I really just wanta pack the muscle on that comes from doing heavy dls
I love sumos but i never stick to just one
