What route should I choose
Alright brothers and sisters. I’m at somewhat of a crossroads this year with which path I’d like to take for my competitive career. So I’d like honest opinions from anyone who cares to give their 2 cents.
So here’s my two options:
A) stay in classic physique, continue to cut and get ready to make a run at nationals mid-2018. My coach thinks I have a good shot at getting my pro card at some point this year, and I feel based off of my feedback and the progress I’ll continue to make that very well could be. However this is where I’m torn with option b)...
B) go into a lean bulk mode the rest of the year and see where I can take my physique. In doing so I’d most likely jump into body building due to the new size accrued. My body loves to grow and it was bittersweet to ‘bulk’ this year because I couldn’t push past 230lbs due to my height/weight limit in my class. Which made bulking feel more like a cut phase. Here’s my logic: 3 years ago I capped at 208lbs. 2 years ago I capped at 225lbs, and last year I capped at 246lbs. This year I could not push past the 230lbs mark as previously stated due to limits in my class. But based off the data I probably could have go to 260lbs or up...
So there’s the options my friends. Which one do you think makes more sense? Thank you in advance for your opinions!

Prime, what’s your goal/s? What would a pro card in classic physique mean to you? Are you competing for personal reward or is Bodybuilding something you want to try and make a living from? If you’re competing for personal reward then which division would best meet your competitive need classic physique or bodybuilding? You’re young so you have a lot ahead of you which ever you choose. If you’re in it to make a living for yourself, stick with classic physique, get your pro card, get yourself out there, make a name for yourself, start a supplement company (there’s where you’re going to make serious money and long term money). Think Lee Lebrada, Rich Gaspard, Shawn Rey, they made far more money off of their supplement companies than they did from bodybuilding.

If you have a shot at your card in classic get it and classic and re evaluate from there. Hardest part is getting the card, once you have it you can take as long as an off-season as you want if you want to grow or start competing in classic

Ultimately I’ll be in classic physique. So that’s the end game. From there it would be to climb the ranks and try to be a top competitor. Eventually starting a supplement/clothing line would be ideal if I was able to get enough notoriety.
The rationale I used for perhaps going BB to turn pro is that I can be heavier on stage so once I turn pro, I can be closer to the weight limit at the pro ranks. Because right now from amateur to pro in classic division there’s about a 15lb difference which is drastic. So guess I was just trying to be closer to classic physique pro stage weight making the transition from amateur to pro a bit easier. Also I know several pros who turned pro in BB and now are some of the best classic pro’s in the world.
However after assessing your questions and seeing the end game I think I’m going to see through the initial plan of gunning for the pro card in classic this year

That’s a great point Joko. And makes a lot of sense. After hearing yours & Weapons insights I’m going to stay the course for classic this year and make my run. Thanks for the clarity

Glad I was able too offer something you found benefit from. IMHO, classic physique is going to be here for a while and to the general masses more universally appealing.

If your body wants to grow past 246, go for it.

Very true. I guess I’ll postpone the super bulk and see were my stage run takes me this year. Then assess from there
