It's so much more expensive buying organic foods. But I suck it up and pay the extra fees to avoid the antibiotics, and unwanted hormones. Plus, I've heard the farming industry has pesticides now that are meant to be absorbed by the crop, thus fighting off pests as part of the internal plant. Well, that means we're eating that shit if we ain't buying organic. Just like we're eating that damn wax on the "pretty" apples if we aren't buying organic ones. It just pisses me off that I have to pay $4.70 for a dozen organic eggs when it's something like a $1.80 for a regular carton.

The farming/husbandry industry is loading up their livestock (beef, pork, chickens, and whatever) with antibiotics and hormones in a routine manner, not when an animal is sick. And the American Public is consuming it. A couple of months ago, I saw a national news spot that reported after all these years of the farming industry practicing the above techniques (obviously for the bottom line - $$$$$$$), the FDA finally made a public announcement on national television that they were "concerned" about this practice because the public is consuming these things. Did any of you guys see that report? If it took the FDA years to come out with that public statement, imagine how many years it will take for federal regulation to pass which will prohibit the use of antibiotics and hormones in this manner.

If you've been watching the national news within the last week, there was a report that the CDC is very concerned about a Super Bug strain that is becoming more prevalent across the United States, even in hospitals. This Super Bug is immune to all currently known and available antibiotics. If you catch the Super Bug, I guess you're basically fucked. We all know antibiotics are way over-prescribed by doctors. I'm not a die-hard doomsday prepper. But if there's a real threat that exists in the not so distant future, it's not Planet Earth getting hit by a giant meteor or California falling into the Pacific because the Penguin blew up the fault line. It's this Super Bug that could take off and spread in the general population like a wild fire. I can only imagine there are scientist in the laboratory shaking in their boots right now trying to come up with an adequate defense against the Super Bug.

Anyway, didn't mean to get away from the main theme here. On the brighter side of life, we're all gonna' die one day. LOL. If I'm gonna be getting a daily dose of hormones, I'd rather be pinning myself with it. I just wanted to hear what some of the brothers were doing when it comes to that extra food cost for organic stuff.
