IF and how you approach it?
Over the holiday weekend I was doing the beach thing with family and friends. My friends brother in law was asking me all the who what when where why about my diet and training. He saw me eating bun free burgers with tins of salad and veggies and some roasted red potatoes.
He told me he lost 18 lbs doing a starch based intermittent fast diet. Where he only eats between 2 and 9.
Bottom line he was skinny fat with sort of little man boobs.
He wanted to know what to do to get his body more muscular and tighter.
I told him to start weight training and eat more protein... Then I told him to get his blood done to check for low test and if it is low to find out why it's low.
He said he was going to do it! I was shocked cause usually people have like 50 excuses why they can't train.
I told him I am in trt and that why I can maintain myself at 44. I had to explain tho that trt is just normal test levels and you are not on a cycle.
So does anybody do IF and how do you like it?

Personally I don't do well on any kind of fasting diet. I have issues with my blood sugar levels anyway and fasting exacerbates that. I prefer a tightly controlled 5/6 meals a day type thing. I stay more even-keeled and don't pick fights lol.

If you have blood sugar issues a ketogenic diet would help tremendously

So my fast is pretty mediocre, but I like to do 12 hours without eating. I train in the morning where I will have some pre workout carbs to fuel me. Then I periodically get my protein throughout the day (normally just fish and veggies). I try to keep it low calorie Throughout the day. Then around 4pm I have a huge meal that has carbs fats and protein that will make me nice and full and won't eat again until around 4:30 the next morning (I train very early).
I can't find a way to consistently do longer fasts like 16/8 or 20/4 while still being able to keep all my protein. However if I have a HUGE cheat meal, I may fast for over 12 hours.
Also I only do this when I'm natty because I hear of all the hormonal benefits of fasting. When I'm on gear I won't normally fast as long

I love fasting when I'm looking to lean up. It helps me keep my calories in check without having to weigh out every meal. I take Hgh during my fasting period which helps keep my insulin levels down and Hgh flowing. Lol. I make sure I take creatine and bcaa's also. This eases my mind about "losing muscle" while I'm fasting. I only drink black coffee (helps with fat burning) and water during fast. For me it's a good feeling walking around knowing I'm burning fat on an empty stomach. I try to base my work out around my feeding window. So for me my fast looks like this... I stop eating around 7-8pm. Wake up take 3 grams creatine. Sip on some black coffee throughout the morning. Around 1030 -1100 I'll have a small light pre workout meal. 1100-1130 I'll slam 8oz of raw liquid egg whites and a handful of goji berries. 12pm I workout sipping on my mix of bcaa's , 2grms creatine and 5 grams Cacoa powder. 1pm post workout I slam 4oz pomegranate juice and another 8oz raw liquid egg whites. Usually 2 hours after that I have a nice meal. Then another meal or two before I start my fast again at 7-8pm. The only difference from this and when I'm looking to gain is me adding a protein shake or two 8am and 9am and some raw liquid egg whites before bed. I also take sweet potato powder from true nutrition. Good shit. Hope this helps.

Keto for sure...I dropped some weight there but I can stay on for more than 6 weeks tops...I need to hit the carbs intermittently..but it does work...just a pain waiting for the switch to happen

When I first started back on this journey in December of 2015 what I did was not eat from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily.
Of course I would wake up so damn hungry I would eat a huge breakfast every single day. At night when I felt hungry (which I did pretty much daily) I would just tell myself 'when hungry...drink water'. I went from 253lbs to 222lbs in three months.
Somewhere in there I started weight training again, realized I couldn't gain muscle the way i used to, had my levels checked, realize my test was low, found BOP and the rest is history

Thanks for the reply ...some good info.
I'm back from vacation and I definitely ate way too much while I was away so today I'm going to try IF just to see how I feel.
