In short both! Lol
I like to do keto at the beginning of the diet when the body has much more energy reserves, aka fat to tap into then transition into carb cycling around my workout

Lol. Jokos. I am starting to consider doing Keto. From what I have read it sounds a lot like the Atkins program. So my questions are, Won't someone lose muscle as well as fat or do they lose straight body fat? How do you determine the macros needed for Keto? Will AAS prevent muscle loss or increase it and strength while doing a Keto program?

It's very similar to the Atkins although a bodybuilder keto typical is a lot more protein and not as high of fat content. You shouldn't be losing muscle , it may look like it becusee you're gonna be walking around flat and depleted aside from the hour or so you workout. AAS will definitely help you hold onto muscle, id say in short you may notice a dip in strength initially, i guess it's to be expected because we took away an energy source, but it shouldn't be a downward plummet.
I think guys who are above 14% percent would benefit from starting keto diet and then when you get to 10% is when you can start manipulating your diet and other factors

With just an initial short term dip in strength, is there a dip in energy and feelings of lethargy when first starting? If so how long does it last?

IMHO This is by far the best way to do it.
This game isn't for everyone, being big and bloated doesn't make you the man, nor does being 110lbs ripped. If you are not competing, find a happy medium. I was thin once, learned all there was to learn about steroids and got pretty big. Then learned how to eat and I got really huge.

Honestly what I do is I'll usually add in another protein meal , I typically take in around 400g and then I'll add an half tbsp/ of oil to my meals. I know it's you're not the most exact way but I use this and when I transition to carb cycling where you can further manipulate macros

If you're doing keto the first 3-4 days when you don't have carbs is going to be difficult (at least in my experience). But once you're brain starts switching to ketones instead of glucose for energy you feel better.
I also agree with joko. Keto is good in the beginning of a diet, and once you get really depleted some carb cycling works well

Given the higher level of protein intake how does one decrease the level of iron absorption to aid in keeping red blood cell count lower? The heme iron combined with AAS will cause red blood cell count to increase.
