      Should you eat before lifting?

If so how long should I wait after I eat before I lift? 30min? Hour? What about if I do fasted cardio? I wanna kill two birds with one stone and lift right after or before. I don’t wanna go to the gym twice in a day.

I have tried working out fasted and with something in my stomach. I prefer...if I’m lifting then I eat a little something carb related and a protein shake 30-40min prior.
Going fasted I “felt” weaker and less motivated.
I would say depending on your goals like drop some fat, I would do fasted cardio only. Maybe pick a few just cardio days with maybe abs.
Personally I need fuel to run the motor.
You could also try brining a Intra workout drink to replenish your glycogen after you do fasted cardio and do some lifting after.

I like to eat about 2hrs before the gym. I like to have some carbs with this meal as well. I've tried fasted workouts and I agree with 9tmare, I just felt like I was a little weaker. You can try it though and see what works for you.

Yeah I lifted yesterday on an empty stomach and I felt so damn weak. Less motivated. I’ll definitely at least get a protein shake and something with carbs in me from now on.

How will you ever have the strength to life enough weight to change your body composition if you don't eat before the gym?
I'm not being sarcastic here, but - YES - eat before you go to the gym.
If you're focused on hypertrophy, you must eat and eat right.
If you're on a keto kick, get off of it for god's sake!

I eat a hour before doing either nothing fasted. Here is how I think about it for cardio if you dont have some fuel you won’t be giving it your best. Thoughts of food and being weak doesn’t help burn calories. If you ate you can give it 100% you are going to burn it off anyway. Try something small like a banana and oatmeal packet. Good calories and will give you fuel for the workout. On lifting days I always have 2 meals before gym or the workout is shit.
      YEAH BUDDY!!!!!! LIGHT WEIGHT!!!!!!

I always eat something small before lifting - or else My stomach growls the whole lift and I come home earlier bc all i AM thinking about is food

I usually eat 2 oatmeal packs and a protein shake w 1% milk about 45 min pre gym

It holds me over -- then when i GET HOME i eat 3 egg omelette , protein shake and most time a yogurt or a bowl of fruit

I still am starving after this ^^ but this helps satisfy what my body needs post workout -- then i usually eat again about an hour after or so

I eat a full breakfast early am, then a pre workout carb/protein shake before training but, I am bulking. It is completely dependent on your actual goal at the time. I do fasted workouts as well, it is just about what you need that day really.

Eating food before the gym gives you energy and makes you stronger, so I would definitely eat before.

And if you did your cardio after your workout you would be in a depleted state doing your cardio which would be just like cardio on an empty stomach.
