      KETO...Can you maintain muscle?

      Just asking for opinions.
Would love to spark a good keto debate.

First of all I am 6ft 260, probably about 20-22% body fat. I really wanna cut to 230 so I'm giving keto a go.

I've read about everything out there. I tend to lean towards Robb Wolfe, the guy knows his shit.

      But im open to opinions.

I've been on it 2 weeks. Its like a fucking roller coaster but I'm leaning out. I lost 6lbs the first week BUT gained 3lbs the 2nd.

I increased my test from a cruise dose of 1cc to 2cc a week (cyp 400mg week total) I also added NPP 300MG a week. I run pretty low doses and respond well.

I'm a little confused by the gaining 3lbs back week 2. My diet has been PERFECT. Less than 40 carbs every single day. My face is leaner too so I fucking had to gain muscle right? Drinking a gallon of water a day and I ain't holding any that I can tell.

I've been following the carbs are a limit, protein is a goal, fat is a lever.

      Appreciate any insight!

      KETO...Can you maintain muscle?

Following. I have never ran keto fully as a diet, just for weeks at a time when needed. It will be interesting to see you results. A lot of people do keto w great success. I am a carb junkie and I cannot stick to it. One thing I do notice with clients is that it takes a while for your body to adjust to the macro changes and fights back for some time and then you really start burning into the fat. Clarence Bass (was, he may be dead IDK)is the foremost expert on the topic and has authored many books on the subject. I would definitely pick up a couple of his books. Dr Axe is a salesman and I don’t really like how he sells high end products. Keep me posted! I do love Meat and Butter! Lol

      It’s not sustainable long term.

Need to cut, it can work. BUT I think you will loose mass for sure.

Study any Keto expert they will tell you that you can.

Talk to the other side (me), they will tel you that you can’t.

The only way to know is to give it a go. I feel like a piece of exhausted dog shit on low or no carbs.

I've been on keto almost a year. I was very strict with my diet and I lost over 20lbs while lifting, taking aas, and eating all the yummy fat I could hold. I wasn't able to grow but was definitely able to maintain the muscle I had while losing fat. The last few months I've done the one day a week carb load. Strength has shot up because I'm blasting right now and I'm losing fat again but gaining weight, which I definitely feel is muscle. Keto has been great for me. I'm 5'6" , 190lbs. Good luck brother! It's definitely not for everyone...damn I miss carbs...lol

I like carbs too much, much more than fat.

The human body, and it’s cells primarily thrive off glucose. Training the body to be fat adapted 24/7 IMO, is like trying to teach a human to walk backwards all the time.

There have been a couple of days I woke up feeling sooo fucking good. Now maybe i just slept well and it was a good day. I dunno. I'm a scientist so I believe with any experiment it has to be replicated and variables controlled. However these 2 days I almost felt high. Like just an intense feeling of euphoria, it was awesome. That is def not something I feel usually so it was odd bc it's happened twice and both days were over a week in. The kicker is, both days I felt intense cravings and tired a few hours later. So kind of a roller coaster you could say.

I'm riding this fucker until the wheels fall off. After 17 days its like watching a shitty movie all the way to the end. No fucking way I'm turning it off with 10 minutes left.

Really though.... even on low carb and weak as fuck....Did I gain muscle week 2??? Its tripping me out.

I have eaten lots of bacon and sausage. Lol. But if you had any idea how bad I'd like to have even some healthy carbs like jasmine rice, a sweet potato, oatmeal or a kodiak cake.......
