      The Vegan/Plant Based Bodybuilding Diet

      Hey if anyone is trying to make dietary changes towards a plant based diet or even vegan or vegetarian. Or if you are just curious about it then heres were I (and maybe some other peeps) will attempt to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge.

      Not as bloated or gassy today
      Pea protein arrived today, vanilla flavour tastes ok
      I was told to cut down on tofu as too much soy is bad ??
      Im finding my carbs are higher than protein at the moment
      Im drinking soy milk in coffe but will switch it ti half soy half coconut milk brand.
      I am soaking split peas in water overnight in the hope i will digest it better
      Is 1Tbs of organic peanut butter ok ?
      Ive been having it daily on rice cakes

      Yeah, soy contains phytoestrogens which mimic the female estrogen, but I don't think that scientists are for certain whether too much is bad for men or not. I guess it depends on what you read. Supposedly it doesn't affect your testosterone levels and could possibly help prevent prostate cancer. I love coconut milk and think that it would be delicious in coffee, but you could also try almond or cashew milk if you don't have an allergy. In the states, they are starting to make more flavored coffee creamers with almond milk, but so far they don't have an Irish Cream, so I haven't tried any.

      I'm happy to hear that your body is getting used to the increased fiber and would hope that soaking the peas would help make them softer and easier to digest. Organic peanut butter is great. Keep up the eating and let us know how things are progressing.

      The phytoestrogens in soy and other plants actually help block estrogen and rid the body of the excess (fiber also has this effect). Im sure more studies need to be done on these effects. But for now if your going plant based just experiment with different types of meat alternatives. Even the ones that people argue are processed are better than actual meat and can help you transition easier.

      There are also companies that make variations of plant based meat and dairy alternatives

      Tofurky
      Beyond meat
      Quorn
      Gardein
      Morning star
      Daiya
      Silk
      Kite hill
      The list goes on and keeps growing.

      I know gogogodzilla has been running plant based for a month or better. I’m sure he’ll stop in. I’m going to give it a go starting Monday. I’ll make sure my proteins are high enough and calories are right and let the rest ride and see how it goes.
