      Cardio after weight training

I was reading on here last night one of the more experienced guys advising someone to do their cardio after their weight training if they couldn’t do fasted cardio first thing in the am. I can’t for the life of me remember what it was or where I found it. I read about cardio right after weight training affecting your muscle growth. I work out early in the morning. I try to separate my cardio until night. Have a bike that I bought for home cardio. Although it just sucks riding a bike at home. Feel like I would get much more out of hitting cardio at the gym. I have kids so getting to the gym a second time each day is impossible. Nor do I want to miss their whole lives because I’m at the gym. That’s important to me. Also I’m not the best with keeping up with cardio at home. My question is what do you guys or would you guys do in this situation ? Lift first then cardio immediately after and more consistency or space out cardio and weight training like I am now?

It really doesn’t matter. There are two sides to this, but for someone who has the objectives you do, you really won’t see a difference.
I normally follow your routine. Lift in the morning early and do cardio at night before working out again.
Preparing for a competition, I do fasted cardio in the morning prior to working out and then again on the afternoon.
Just be happy and do what fits your schedule. If you were going to compete, I would have a different answer.

Thanks man. Not competing. I tend to over complicate things. Think that’s common with us. Thanks for simplifying this for me.

Ill leave it at what charger said but my question is do you have your bike set up in the living room to watch tv and be available for your kids as you say you need. I always recommend for people to set up their cardio in a place where they can watch their favorite show. If in the garage put a tv out there. A typical running time for a show is 40 min. So figure half a show or full show works great.

actually I do. I set it right up in front of the tv. That’s helps me get through. It’s just a cheap bike and it’s not really comfortable. Lol. Got it for $50 off Craigslist.

I mean the scientific reasoning is that how your body creates energy there's 3 ways and each kick in at different times and for reasons. The thought of cardio after weights is that your glycogen stores are emptied so your body switches to fat. I think if you do too much or too intense of cardio it could impact gains this way but idk. But then right after carb up and eat a fat ass meal if you can (i normally have no appetite for awhile after the gym) or a shake.

Yeah research shows that cardio immediately after weight training lowers the M-Tor response in the muscle. Does it make much difference in practice? I don't see it; tons of pro bodybuilders used to do that and they still grew like weeds.

I’ve always done my cardio immediately after weight training. At the gym I’d chug a protein shake right after weights. At home I take HGH right after weights then do cardio.

When you do cardio after weights your only supposed to do a short amount of time. I personally aim for 15min on the stair stepper or the bike.

I also can't find an answer to this question, but I tend to think that if you don't compete, then you can do cardio when it's convenient. If spending time with your family is important to you, then on some days you can try to ride a bike like Tomasso together, if possible. So you will do a workout and have a good time with the children.
