Old post but I will comment. That is very true because the body does adapt. Although if you have 40 pounds (for example) to lose and drop 30 pounds the last 10 is always going to be harder to get off and people sometimes wrongly mistake that for the drug losing effect. That's why I always recommend adding DNP into the later stages of a diet. Many like to use it at the start of a diet to get things moving quickly though and there is no wrong answer.

If someone is planning to use DNP at the start of as diet and for longer periods I would go with something like 3 on 2 off 3 on 2 off. Starting with your maintenance daily cals but all clean foods and gradually moving down. I don't think DNP should be run for very long periods (months/years) and if someone has so much fat to lose that would be needed they need to learn to diet first and be consistent then after they have lost a lot of fat they can add it in once they hit a plateau and carry on losing. Now if someone has been dieting and they have approx 30 pounds to lose then sure the 2-3 on 2 off 2-3 on etc approach could work wonders. If they need 3 mini cycles of DNP that's fine and I know many who have done that.

For anyone who is morbidly obese and has 100+ pounds of fat to lose they just need to learn how to diet first before relying on dnp because it will become a crutch and they will find themselves using it for years. There are many who use DNP all year and they do that simply so they can eat what they want and not get fat and it's definitely not something I would ever recommend.

Sorry for going totally off topic but yes mini cycles are the best way and I wouldn't use it longer than 6 weeks without a break.
