Thread: Redefining the female bodybuilder

If drugs ruined the image of female bodybuilding then this Bikini class(es) are doing the same from the other end. No pun intended.
You go to a “bodybuilding” contest and half the show is bikini, fitness, wellness or whatever they want to call it. Women who simply diet (sort of) or don’t diet at all put on those ridiculous caterpillar fake eyelashes, trowel on the makeup and walk around flailing their arms and sticking their asses out toward the judges in a disgustingly objectifying manner.
If bodybuilding ever hopes to be seen as more than “a bunch of dudes (and chicks) jacked up on steroids and posing in a narcissistic manner”, going the opposite direction with these boring and apparently superficial women on stage isn’t going to be of any help.

For me and plenty of others, bodybuilding isn’t just working out and taking drugs. It’s about lifestyle, true dedication and extreme effort to transform one’s physique to seemingly inhuman levels. Constantly.

Bikini and Fitness may very well have “saved” bodybuilding but the cure can be the killer. Like the adrenaline shot that revives a dying man, only to cause a subsequent heart attack and ultimately his demise.

I’ll take women (and men) who obviously put in the dedication and effort to make bonafide improvements to their physiques and continuously strive for improvement over, Instagram ducklipped Kardass-ian girls, strutting around a bodybuilding stage.

I am cool with Figure and Physique but long live dedicated bodybuilder women!
