      Insulin Question !

      Good morning brothers.

      I wanted to know how long should I wait after eating my first meal (1 cup of oats and egg whites) before I pin. Usually I work out early in the morning so I'll eat my meal, shoot 2iu GH 30min pre, shoot 5iu Novolin-R 15min pre, and then workout and sip on my intra. But I'm not sure how long i should hold off pinning after i eat my meal. I just want to make sure i get the timing right and not pin to close to my first meal. Any feedback is appreciated.

      Novolin R (regular) just like humalog R has an onset time of 30 to 60mins

      so what you want is take insulin first and then (according to onset) have the carbs in the body (so quick dextrose can be delivered within 3-4mins, oats take longer)

      dont eat first and then shoot insulin because. you CAN do it but most efficient is to have carbs ready for uptake when onset starts, and ofcourse during the active life of insulin in this case 6-10hrs

      also if u want to have more control and not be peaking for half a day then go for humalog or novorapid, quick releasing insulins, 15mins onset, peak 1-2hr, out in 4 max mostly 3. excellent for pre and post workout and PER MEAL dosing

      for example u might want to have 2 meals with carbs and cover it with insulin and shove them all in. BUT 3rd meal so 6hrs later u want to have salmon and othre fats, with R u cant do it well cause it will still be present and more chance of storing fats. with rapid ones its out in 3-4hrs so u can have fats. more control

      I, unlike most prefer rapid acting insulin. Quick in quick out. Only downfall is if your doing pre and post you’ve gotta pin twice and watch the overlap.

      i also like humalog (fast acting) much more control and i would start pre workout and see how it affect a person and then later 2iu post WO and see where the overlap is and build it out. never take 10iu pre and post and hope for the best lol

      ALWAYS have dextrose on hand, gets in the blood within 3 minutes so always on hand

      The way you're using inslulin you'd be better off with humalog
