This is also a debate I am interested in.
I have been considering it myself for some items.
I only use it if it is needed.
Had both done.
Also ran an interesting test/log with pure EO and then various EO mixed with different carriers in different types of syringes and vials to see what effect it would have on the stopper, I might be able to dig up the old thread if I can find it over on SF or TID. Otherwise I'm sure I saw the pics a few months back. In short, in the syringes it did very little damage to the stoppers, nothing noticable in the vials.
As for in compounds, I haven't come across one person that could tell if it was under 5% - different compounds, carriers and esters all work better and worse together, it's not just 'add some in' and get good results.
Would I use it again? If needed, yes.
In saying that, I would also avoid it if possible. People can deal with a little bit of pip or a thicker mixture as far as I'm concerned, no need to use it for that.
Found the photo's, put them on imgur.
Was using pure LR grade EO,
eo - Album on Imgur
from memory i let it sit for 2 weeks before filtering the oil and checking for bits of the stopper in a .22um wattman syringe filter
Nice, what do you think about a cottonseed / EO mix have you tried that?
